This weekend has gotten screwed. I forgot that we're doing Thanksgiving early because Tamara is on call on Turkey day. She is also on call most of that weekend so she won't go out. But I'm still feelin the need.
Any ideas where to go? Snakes, Little Moab, something different?

I think once i get the inter fender back in the air won't be able to do that any more.:D
IN the end i may need to go the tj fender way
stewie
November 17th, 2006, 13:43
when i trimmed, initaly i relocated the stock flares. my 95 didnt turn out very well. i sucked at trimming the actual flares and made them too small. i was able to get them to stay on the body of the jeep with self tapping screws. they held on pretty well even on the free way. i think the post 97 flares are the ones that have a hard time staying on when relocated.
in the end i went with some TJ flares. and i needed more trimming to get those to work right. just make sure you fold down the seam in the front wheel well.

There is a dirt road that goes from Squaw Peak (up Provo Canyon) over to Maple Canyon that might be a lot of fun with snow on it. AF canyon might also be a possibility.

With no snow, it can be driven easily by most vehicles. It could be tough depending on how much snow is up there when you try it.

Definite maybe :D We're going down to Zion N.P. for Thanksgiving and I'm not sure when we'll be back. I did the trail last year on Thanksgiving day while the women-folk were making the feast and it wasn't too hard at all. From the valley below where I live, it looks like there is more snow on the road this year. It would be fun either way.

yah i failed them. the BIG question the computer didnt like was
"in the last three years how many shouting matches were you involved with at work?
A. none
B. 1-2
C. 3
D. 4 or more."
my answer, c. try explaining to someone in a cool, calm, compassionate voice, "hey Mr trying to gain unauthorized access to US war planes. stop please. now put you hands up and turn away from my voice." all this while holding him at machine gun, M4, and granade launcher gunpoint.
fawk no! you make your presence known and take control of the situation. even if it means a well placed shove with said machine gun(M249 for those wondering- persuaded subject to move faster with weapon at port arms.)
the test is totaly flawed. its designed for those whom enjoy the ZZZZZZZZZ of a desk job. that just aint me. i need to fell like im doing good for the world. oh well i need to get off my :soapbox:.

I just went up there this morning and the gates have been closed early so I guess we're looking for another option.
Diamond Fork Canyon (up Spanish Fork Canyon) doesn't have a gate, but it's just a paved road. Although if you can get far enough up it, there are dirt roads that branch off it, but I've never explored them so I couldn't say if they were worth while or not. I'm thinking AF canyon might the best bet locally.

Jeremy How long do you think we'll be?
Clint, What was that noise in your front end in Moab? Was it just normal Aussie break-in?
Clint
November 24th, 2006, 08:03
Spencer, I totally tore down the Aussie and reassembled. It didn't really make the noise on the newbie run but I haven't run it since to test.
Mine did the same starting thing yesterday. I've had it parked for about the last month now with a half tank of gas, pretty sure I had some condensation in there. A bottle of HEET cured that issue.

Well after Spencer and Jeremy bailed, Chris, Calvin, Josh and I all went on the alternate route that was planned for the newbie route into Eureka. We checked out a few mines then headed into Eureka. Before we could get to Eureka, I had a weird feeling of Deja Vu with a horrible grinding sound in the front. After inspection and removing the tire, we found a huge rock stuck in my brakes. (see pic) After removing that, we continued into Eureka to fuel. After fueling Chris and Calvin both bailed leaving just Josh and I. Not wanting to head home, we decided to see what scenery we could find in the west high desert. We went west out of Eureka, across highway 6 and the rail road tracks. Then we went west and south about 15 miles ending up at Vernon Reservoir. From there we drove west again up into Harker Canyon. After a short stop in the canyon it was getting dark so we went back to Vernon, aired up and headed home. For the guys that bailed on us; you missed a great time and wonderful scenery.

Thanks for the run Clint. I wish I could have stayed and ran the second part, but I left in the nick of time. I puked three times on US 68 on my way back. I ended up going to the in-laws and I spent all of my afternoon in bed. I just now got home. I will post pics tomorrow.

Um, I think I can speak for us all when I say that I'll take your word for it. :)
Looks like a good time, nice pics Clint.

Nice pics guys. I wish I could have gone but I was in Altimont or wait...was that Opal or no...maybe it was Vegas.
Hell I can't remember.. 1600 miles in two days and I'm not even sure where I am now.

Looks like you guys had fun. Still looks a little more hard core than I'm used to though. So I'm still going to be nervous ever making a run with you.

The obstacles that the pictures are from, were totally optional. Little Moab is a playground where everyone does what they want. The pictures I posted were all of flat dirt road. No need to be scared :)

That's very nice of you, Clint.
Maybe in the spring when there isn't any snow. I definitely do not off-road in the snow!! I hate snow with a dire passion. :( (I know, why do I live in Utah? Raised here, kids' friends are here.)
