Here are a few things I learned:

DOUGIE DOUG DOUG!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tim and Doug need a sitcom
The SEC guys are alright too :D
Brian and Jager don't mix well
Tyler can build a mean ass rig
Stump is an aspiring Rally driver :dunno:
Climbing a mountain in a Jeep is a Blast!

You can fit a queen size air mattress in the back of a F250
Doug owns stock in several u-joint companies
Stacy makes a mean rice krispie treat
If it's moving, Nick will film it (right up until you blow the horn at him)
What Tim lacks in traction, he makes up for with valve float
Brian has two spotting techniques (ask him which one you are before you start)
Craig WILL find a rock to put under his diff on every trail

Glenn has a sense of humor (somebody has a picture of the ghostbusters tshirt, right?)
Glenn still breaks the most stuff and yet somehow weasels out of the trophy

SEC campfires are a good time.
You can frog gig in a mud puddle.
after the drop into lions den you can't stop your hand from shaking.
Nick runs a stick welder pretty well.
a 4.8L half ton can get 14 MPG towing my junk.
Upper Damnation hadn't been run in 3 years, there's a reason.
Lions Den was fun for me, not so fun for the MJ.
Harlan was everything Brian hyped it to be.

buy a map..
don't do pee breaks when every one in your group has a tendency to ditch you..
trail 20 served as a baja course for the LS2 XJ..
wear a hat of some sort to keep the deer ticks and regular ticks off your head..
deet doesn't seem to work on dogs, rubi was covered in nats...
Tree vs Jeep = Tree wins
check the batteries in your air mattress pump before leaving home...
Never ask the atv'ers if a group of jeeps went thataway?

shortxjdoug
July 4th, 2010, 21:24
i learned

at this rate i SHOULD own stock in u-joint companies.
the less pieces your hatch breaks into the harder it is to haul back to camp
i probably should have asked for a recount on the carnage award vote
RCV shafts are worth every penny
forgetting pillows sucks
tim's rollcage works pretty well
dropping a bus into loins den makes for good entertainment
and the best way to increase the jeep budget is to let your other half have a blast driving up middle rock garden ;)

Glenn still breaks the most stuff and yet somehow weasels out of the trophy

I worry too much.
The SEC recovery team works well together.
The Hawk Eye overlook is beautiful.
Mother Nature liked us this year.
MWC guys are pretty darn cool guys to wheel with.
V8's in XJ's make them fast, very fast.
Ticks like me.
The wheelin' is goooooood.

July 5th, 2010, 04:49
Tim needs to practice NOT destroying sheet metal
24 LB injectors are too big for a stock headed stroker
James carries his hotel in his trailer
Latney; his comes in his truck
An LS2 in an XJ is a scary thing, but it sure is quick!
Lion's Den is NOT a place for a full bodied XJ, even if you have a cage.
MTRs just don't compare to Swampers... ever.
Pizza and Wings are good, but I'm still feelin' them

YJ-GENRAL
July 5th, 2010, 06:12
LIT doesnt stand for long island tea... but Lets gIt Toasted
my chili is certainly famous now :D
harlan rocks, i need the genral there next time
apparently people still eat frogs... ho
bottle rockets dont like me but apparently likes Tyler
roman candles were not meant for fighting with
Tyler can build a sweet XJ
Brent is never allowed to take his shirt off in front of me again...
and finally, nobody will make fun of my JK TOO much, especially after getting to ride around in it :D

LS2 XJ

trail 20 served as a baja course for the LS2 XJ..

I hung with it pretty well, but had it not been so narrow and twisty I would never have kept up. That thing is quick!

I learned that while 8.8s are great, but they almost require 35's or bigger.
Bring the jeep on a trailer, then you can have more fun.
Being locked front and rear is a good thing.
Exhaust run too close to the body means carpet catches on fire, but I'm not the only one.
Having a coffee pot will get you bacon.
Blake can't launch bottle rockets by hand but he can get a lucky shot.

POLAR_JEEP_04
July 5th, 2010, 07:07
Bacon is also a form of currency in the SEC
I should wait until the sun is bright enough in the AM before getting out of my sleeping bag so I'm not confused for a bear
Jager, pizza, jager, frog legs.
Harlan is a mostly dry county and the one town that does have beer only sells miller lite, bud lite, and coors lite. :(
Glenn has a ghostbusters shirt! And carries his wine bag proudly in the back of his jeep lol :D

Mother Nature can be nice...
Lions Den....wow, just wow.
The stray horse on a trail with a blue eye, is cool, but explaining to a 7 year old that we can't take it home is tough.
If you can't go backwards, then you got to go forwards.
TOO much winching will make the alternator a little hot.
Harlan is the bomb for some good wheeling.
Fireworks can actually sound like cannons going off.
I need a remote control for my winch...

You just can't beat good friends and good wheeling!!

jeepgeek2002

Trail 45 got renamed to "3 Winches for a Roll" before you get to the play ground!

The Hard Struggler
July 5th, 2010, 10:05
'Killin Time' trail can be run in under 90 seconds.
Rebecca will NOT be bringing any Pugs to future rock crawling events.
Body damage does not count in the Carnage Award.
Brian Ho mixed with a half liter of Jager brings the funny...and frog flavored burps.
Bacon is currency.
I covet an LS-2 engine.
RCV axle shafts are worth it.
My 4.0 liter runs just fine at the rev limiter, even on its side.
Midwest Chapter folks are welcome round' my campfire anytime.
My rear bumper needs more trianglation.

The pug was cute, but there's a reason I don't bring the dogs wheeling anymore.

Just a few things I remember/learned from the Crawl.

Get time off of work BEFORE the crawl actually comes around.
Bring liquor to Harlan, instead of waiting till you get there.
Black mountain ORV park is pretty awesome.
Smittybilt winches ARE worth a try.
You can NEVER have too many snatch blocks, tree savers, straps, and shackles.
The Black Mountain pizza factory puts out pretty good grub.
I want an LS2 - nuff said.
An MJ can roll off the side of a mountain, get totalled, stay upside down for 12 hours, and STILL drive back to Knoxville at 70mph.
The local folks in the Food City scare me.
Kentucky sells some really serious fireworks to the average person.
Figured out how to raise FlexdXJ's baseline wheeling speed by at least 5mph

Thanks to all of those in the SEC who put this together, and was very nice meeting and wheeling with all the MWC folks.

Great times as usual, already planning for next year. Thanks to all the folks and companies who stepped up for the raffle, there was some serious $$$ in this years raffle.

Nah. The Pug is fine, Rebecca wants to ride more trails instead of walk with the dog. She is worried that in all the bouncing he will get hurt.

that was never an issue for mine. They make dog harnesses that belt to the lap belt, I had one for Rocky, kept him put right on the seat, secured.

Hey All, So I'm not all up on all the gear talk but I just wanted to say....

Red Heep has a great, nice to look at rig, that he actually isn't scared to drive on some really good trails..
Doug...Just love to see you drive the trails, bro..
Tyler..miss you really driving your rig...
To..Nick..Thanks for the steady video taping..that we all wanting to watch but not necesarilly wanting to do the job of 'videotaping', but were dying to get back to see.

Getting stuck up the mountain is not as fun.
There are a lot more trials then there were 2 years ago.
Magnesium is fun!
My son is picking up way too many habits from my Midwest friends!
James is a great wheeling partner and puts up with my son that is scared of my jeep! Thanks my friend!
Those Empire guys are cool and not afraid to at least try a trail.
My tent is less muskie smelling then the cabins. :gag:
Josh if a picture does not surface I will get you one!

Forgot to add: 8 psi is too high, 5 psi is still too high, and 2 psi will generally get er done!

~Spanky~
July 5th, 2010, 21:36
Tics prefer Midwestern cuisine over a Southern dish
Three foot tall weeds and a ditch indicate a cliff, not a trail
Chicken wings are hotter in the hills
Better to lose your brakes at home than on the trail
Tyler gives new meaning to “New & Improved” wow!
Next year I am buying $100 in raffle tickets and tying Tyler, Dan and Doug to a tree before the drawing!

Brian,Josh,Doug, and Tim can spot for me anytime.

Craig ,Thanks for your help, running my camcorder..You the man.
The Southern Boys can build some badaz XJ'S .Just about bomb proof....
Then wheel them just as hard.

A couple more things I learned at the crawl:

Boots, not sandals! and not because of the sticky mud but because of the ticks, chiggers, and falling on rocks.
If Tim has an open spot on the trailer, take advantage of it so I don't have to worry about driving the jeep home.

Where? When?

87manche
July 8th, 2010, 16:15
I saw no rattlers, but really pissed off a black snake that was sleeping on upper damnation. I'm sure he was just as surprised to see me as I him.

We looked at each other for a minute, he decided that I was crazy for being there and that he didn't want any, then went back under his log that I disturbed whilst falling on my ass and losing my hat.

Other things I learned:

Pancakes, bacon, and eggs are really tasty in the crisp mountain air
Arms get really sunburned when you ride with your arm out the window on the 5 hr drive home
Harlan is proud of Coal
Shoes are better on rocks than sandals
JB Weld can fix holes in a radiator
Relays for electric fans can be bypassed
Stump grew hair Friday night
It always pays to pick up the photographer
Great friendships can be made at Harlan
