Anyone seen up close or used the new long arm kit from Full Traction? Looks pretty nice.

Id like to back to what Beezil said the other day,"The front is not a problem, you need to work on the rear suspension".

I like that kit's design, its basically what I mentioned a few months ago and am half way done in making, 'cept mine is in 4130 and has a twist (pun intended) ;)

I dont know what your thinking, but for the rest of you try this one on!Four link with right and left handed acme threads. As the suspension moves it corrects itself for castor/wheelbase thus no binding!

looks like it will interfere with most rocker protection mounts.

Have you proved this out on paper?
Will the lead on the thread really provide enough axial movement during downtravel to have an effect on caster that is noticeable?

It was just "food for thought",I just started thinking about whether this might work!

The change in profile length attributed to the arc travel of the link would be measured in inches.
The potenital length change associted with a partial turning of threads on link ends would be measured in thousanths of an inch.
A 30 degree turn on a thread pitch of maybe 0.125" (8 TPI) per revolution yields 30/360 * 0.125" = 0.01"
A finer pitch obviously yields even less.
RCP, I think this one adds up to a; uhhhhh, no.

One full revolution on a 3/4-16 shanked heim yields me 1/8". Considering the most you could possibly get out of the pair would be a combined half turn, I can't see that being enough to help alleviate the bind issue.
I think your theory just got put out to pasture.

I thought there might be more movement than that,in that size Acme its 4 TPI.It was worth a couple of beers worth of thought!!!

4 TPI would be .25" axial movement per rev
One Ton... a 16 TPI would only allow for .062" travel
Although it should help eliminate bind if used in a radius arm type setup. Allowing the arm to twist at the mount. Isn't this what Beezil was eluding to at one time?

acme???
do you guys have any idea how frikin sSLOPPY acme is, and how bad it gets?
I had an idea to use a long acme coupling nut, cut it in half, twist the two halves a little until the thread had some "preload, and weld it back together....
the right preload I wanted resulted in restrictive movement, at least the "bench" model did....
I scraped that idea before Iwasted any mre time and money on it.

I wouldn't exactly want my threads turning every time the suspension flexes. That'd wear out your arms pretty quick and then the threads would pull out leading to most likely death. Are these the same guys that say cutting threads in DOM is a bad idea? LO-freakin-L. :)

I agree but everytime it comes up in regards to Tera-flex and now JKS arms it "seems to be ok"!

JKS arms are NOT acme threads... they are much finer hardened fine pitch threads and they ride on a sealed brass bushing...
Teracrap arms are acme threads..
