OK tonight the XJ started making a strange noice, almost like metal on metal grinding, but not really a "grind" , more like the sound of bad bearings of some sort.
It got worse as the night went on, when I got home I popped the hood, and it sounded like it was coming from the A/C compressor, I turned on the A/C and it got louder!
So, I am thinking the compressor clutch bearings are bad. I found them at Advanced Auto for $33.
My problem is, I have no idea how to change them, or even if it is just the bearings.
I did some searching around on the site, and I guess if it is the bearings, I won't be able to do it myself (special tools, etc...)
So like the title says, I ned a good reputable local mechanic/ shop.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, BTW I live in Ft. Myers
Thanks
Jeremy
