anyone run across this. exssesive floor heat from the exhaust. the exhaust is about 2 1/2 inches or more from the floor. this is an 87. i looked at another 87 and a 93 both have no factory heat shields and there exhaust are about the same clearence as mine from exhaust to floor. my cat converter is good. was replaced late last year. about 2k on since replacing. is good and has a flowmaster muffler.

A small 'Air-Bake' cookie sheet installed above the muffler/cat will help.
The Air-Bake has two layers of aluminum with an air gap between them.

look at www.bquiet.com
some of thier products are for heat.
I used thier products for noise and heat on my old Dodge Cummins, with good results.
