Burning oil

I have just noticed that I am burning oil. I cant tell if it is the valve seals or the piston rings. It doesnt burn it all the time just when i first start it and when i sit at idle for a long time. even when i first pull up and park it doesnt burn it just when i leav it idle.

From what you're describing it sounds like valve guide seals, but you could pull your spark plugs to inspect them for oil fouling.

I did just that an noticed that it was number 4 cylinder

A compression test (dry/wet) on all cylinders is a good first step in determining what might be going on....

The spec for the 4.0 is 120-150 psi with no more than a 30 psi variation between cylinders
