88 XJ Steering Question

F1504x2

NAXJA Forum User
I have an 88 XJ 4.0.

Problem:
Very Easy steering “not loose” easy, when moving I can turn the wheel with my pinky.

6” Rough Country Lift
33” M/T – new
New ball joints
Couple new tie rods and other are good.
New steering stabilizer
New steering box
Front end alignment just done

Is this ok for an XJ?

Its called POWER STEERING

So, when couldn't you turn the wheel with your pinky?

Castor adds a little weight, and resistance, to the steering and increases the "feel" of center and also causes the steering to straighten itself out if you let go of the wheel. If you have a little wandering feeling, or not much return to center, then you have too little castor and need an alignment.

But, you should always be able to turn the wheel with one finger when the car is moving.

my 89 steers very easliy.

its not a problem unless there is no response when you turn the wheel or if it wanders down the road and you need to continually make adjustment to keep the wheels straight.

Maybe he's just used to that F150 steering:looney:
