I was under the XJ the other day and noticed that I could tell that my rear output shaft on the tcase (242) would move in and outwards from the tcase over 1/4". This seems excessive and I don't recall it being like that when I put it in.
This tcase has a RE hack n tap SYE that I put in. The output flange is definitely bolted tight to the shaft.
Any ideas what could have gone (or IS going) wrong in the tcase?
When I did the SYE, I picked up a used tcase, did the SYE and just swapped out the tcases one day. So I still have the original tcase which is in very good shape that I can swap the SYE over to, but I'd still like to know what causes the sloppiness.
