Crazy idea

Ok guys... Let this one roll around in your heads. I think it would be awesome if a xj could be built, drove across the country and raced in an event. Has anyone ever attempted this before? The jeepspeed vehicles aren't far from street legal. I think a team of a few race vehicles and a few support vehicles could pull this off. Does this intrigue anyone or am I nuts?

Sounds nuts. But we modify and beat up unibody station wagons so I'm pretty sure we aren't right in the head.

Exactly! My road trip from Kuwait to Baghdad gives me the idea. We drove for 5 days straight and fought for a few weeks before the thunder run. I think it is possible with the right people. I would like to put together a team abd make that a goal. It may take a few years but it would be worth it.

I'd ask the Jeepspeed guys in that forum. Just remember that if you break it racing, you have to fix it before driving home thus lengthening timetables away from work and such.
