Today was fun??... dad flew in last night thought I would go show him butcher jones have an easy stroll before I left to go back to NY on TUESDAY!?

Well thank you Mr Ford Raptor... with only 420 miles!

The guy was nice because I think he realized he shouldnt aproach those corners with out of control speed. We all agreed it was speed and a blind corner...Suprisingly Calm for breaking his 50,000 dollar truck.

No hard feelings but that was kinda intense for a few... What a long day.

Probably the worst thing short of rolling it right before I was planning on making the trip back home...

We shall see what nationwide says tomorrow.... To be continued...

Were both sore (prolly from working on the jeep in the desert HA) but most IMPORTANTLY everyone was okay after the crash.

It will be totaled.

If my dad was not here I would have probably called for some help. I had to take out the passenger side shaft which was really hard because everything was bent back from the knuckle out... The welded rock krawler arms and frame stiffeners didnt twist at all.

I may need guidance on a few things in the coming days and I know I can come to the jeep community for help with anything. I was planning on leaving tuesday for NY with my Dad but that is obviously not happening now.. I am just in shock I have built this rig up from nothing and brought it out here..

We swerved and glanced.. better then head on. His fender exploded into pieces and mine rubbed on his inner fender then our tires hit and we deflected apart. BOTH his airbages went off and his front tire is pushed back a bit.

After doing the axleshaft (nightmare) I couldnt make left turns the steering pitman arm is twisted. This made me sleeve in the all the way so it would atleast track straight and make right turns... What a nightmare got it out had to stop because it was getting hot with the radiator being exploded.

Keep us in your prayers and hopefully I will be back in NY by monday for my internship and will have something happen with the jeep that I will be happy with..

It was a nightmare I am dying after doing all this in the desert... We set up our camping chairs to block this corner so people would go do the bypass and within 30 minutes some idiot runs over my chair and slides to a stop??

Soak him for every penny until he bleeds green.

Too bad you didn't have a nice stout bumper on your jeep. Might have still got a lot of damage but it sure would have messed his truck up worse.

if they total it i'd buy it back, source a fender, grill, and hood, and call it a day...unless it really tweaked a bunch of stuff underneath.

glad to know u gave that raptor a bad day.....and a bad carfax!

Man, that sucks! I'd definitely buy it back if they total it, it looks like an easy-ish fix. If you need somewhere to keep it until you come back in August lemme know.. I can easily fit it in the back of my garage with room to park my two in there still. That's how mine was while I was in Vegas, and had a buddy watching my place.

Unless you actually insured the modifications, you're wasting your time and putting salt in the wound by adding up how much you've invested. You'll get market value for a 2001 XJ, probably less than $6,000. I totaled mine about two years ago (rollover, not even off road, damnit), and got zero money for the mods I had receipts for. Old Man Emu, Garvin bumper, and much much more.

It really sucks that someone can be so careless and irresponsible. Good thing nobody was seriously injured. I really liked your Jeep, and I'm sorry it got wtfpwn'd.

The good news is, once you get a check for the Heep, you can buy it back for pennies on the dollar and part it out for more $$$.

AZXJ
May 18th, 2010, 05:10
If you have Gap insurance then the mods will be covered.. If the damage is less then 6k or fair market value, then the ins co. will pay for the repairs..

That is not what gap insurance is. And don't try to pull one over on the insurance companies. They really don't take too kindly to fraud.

I think this is a situation where you really hope that nationwide is really on your side hahaha

Ya the more me and my father talked about it were lucky we deflected the hit and did not go head on. I think I would be pretty hurt if that was the case... thankfully our tires hit and deflected us apart.

My dad said he thought for sure we were going head on and the fact we both swerved is the only reason it was not 10x worse.

You really always think man If something happened and my jeep was wrecked I would be sooo pissed and this and that but in reality when you can both walk away from something without any real injuries your happy in a weird way.

Let me rephrase what I said..

My GAP insurance covers all modifications to my vehicles through American Family.. I expressly asked for coverage of the mods to my vehicles and my insurance agent who is a Jeeper, set me up with the the GAP to cover such mods.. No questions asked..

What makes it a total?

When the cost of the repairs are greater than the value of the vehicle.

Brandoson
May 21st, 2010, 22:06
isnt GAP coverage just to cover the difference above what the vehicle is worth compared to what you owe?
