A/C Clutch? Shims?

I have a 2000 XJ with a 4.0L and the AW4. My AC worked amazing last year, but the other day I went to turn it on for the first time and it wasn't blowing warm air at all. I turned the AC on and checked out the clutch for the compressor and I noticed its not spinning.

I reas somewhere about shims on the AC clutch...where are these?

Are they right behind the bolt that holds the pulley onto the shaft?

I seen a FSM about it, and it says to remove that bolt along with the shims.

Can I remove a shim with the compressor still bolted to the jeep and the belt on?

Thanks in advance

If the clutch is not spinning it's most likely not a shim issue. Any # of issues could cause this from a bad clutch, low freon, a bad sensor or switch, the list goes on. I would look at the clutch first, if it's getting power and not engaging it's probably bad. You can find more info on Sanden's website.
