So we hit up the new NE property at rausch. It was pretty interesting, not alot of stuff to run yet but we hit the new black trail 31, it was pretty intense, especially since it has not been run alot before, there was alot of loose rocks and leaves making progress very slippery. It was hard to get a few feet without slipping and sliding. A few pics.....

btw, it was my shakedown run for my drum-to-disc brake swap. eh. not happy. opinions seem to vary amongst those who have done the swap regarding the necessity of messing with the proportioning valve. not wanting to go thru any more trouble than was necessary, i hadn't done anything with the proportioning valve pending a good trail test. FTL.

There is a HUGE difference in pressure needed to work drum brakes and disc brakes, so I am not surprised to hear that it was FTL.... Drums don't need much, discs need quite a bit more. Just bypass it and run the line directly to the rear brakes.
What ever happened with the bent body/frame thing?

Im getting ready to do the drum to disc swap..At the all u can eat u pull it a few weeks ago, I pulled some disc set ups and grabbed the prop valve. From what I have read, 50% swap the valve, 50% run as is. Sounds like u experience says it does need to be modified. Like you, Im going to see how it acts w/o the prop swap then adjust when necessary. Let us know what u end up doing.:passgas:

That 50% just want to be the cool kids on the block with rear discs...
If you look at the brake pad sizes and inherent design differences between discs and drums, You HAVE to increase the orifice sizes to the rear to have effective rear discs. I ran an adjustable prop valve in the rear brake line for a while, but had a problem with that and took it out. Now its hard line from the MC to the flex line going down to the rear. I have never been able to lock up 35" tires on-road with this setup (I tried...) but it will definitely lock up in the dirt.

Cool..Kind of figured that would be the case. I think some guys even just take out the guts of the prop valve housing so it's just a straight fluid going thru the brass block..
