Pioneer has finally released their head unit and sony now has one also. Boy that crutchfield is expensive on most of their stuff. For those of you who are interested.

Yeah, I've been scoping out the Sony one. I asked the guys at my local Alpine dealer and its gonna cost about twice as much to get a Bluetooth ready alpine system.

I think I would tend to go with the pioneer instead, the pioneer has an external microphone, kind of a no brainer in my opinion, kind of stupid that the others don't have that option too. The others, jensen and sony, have the mic in behind the faceplate so the relationship between the unit and your mouth makes a difference. As for bluetooth add on kits, no, don't think so, seen a couple and they are somewhat clumsy. I have the jensen in my 98 but I also have the moto hardwired kit for when the radio is off plus it also charges my phone in the hang up cup. Plus I finally figured out how to actually download the phone book into the headunit, purley by accident but I figured out what I was doing wrong and now it works, sometimes you just need time sitting in a parking lot waiting for someone to come out of a store to figure things out..

I didn't realize that the external mic was on the faceplate of the Pioneer. Might have to real think my future purchasing plans.

No, the pioneer, from what I read from others who installed it and mentioned being able to place the microphone, has an external mic that you can position where you want it. My moto hardwired kit has one [external mic] and I put it right over the drivers sunvisor about 2" to the left of the rear view mirror.

oh gottcha. That still seems like a better set-up anyways. Thanks for the heads up.
