Re-sealing the transfer case

I bought a "rebuilt" case from a local mechanic/shop teacher a couple years back, and its leaking already from the seal at the case halves.

I'd like to reseal it myself, and I'm curious if the steps to get it apart are the same as the first half of the SYE instructions... meaning do I have to remove the tailshaft housing, snap rings, etc?

Just curious how many parts I'm getting into to shoot some RTV around.

Thanks!

Yes. Just take the two halves apart, scrape off all the old sealant, then reseal it yourself.

Awesome! That saves me buying some new tools.
