tires - taken care of
Alloys - installed
http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6196.jpg
Hubs, wheel bearings, studs, and lugs - installed
cool! a brand new box!
http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6219.jpg
Damn that alloy looks good in there -
http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6220.jpg
Front carpet is out - saved some weight, and removed some rust trapper
in tearing the Pro Comp LCA's out, I noticed an issue with the castor adjuster - http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6212.jpg
so i fixed it :D
http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6213.jpg
then went to work on making the Pro Comp arms into fixed length RE SF LCA's
here is a fawked up bushing -
http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6215.jpg
sum grinding, cutting and pounding -
http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6218.jpg
Whats in this brand new box?
http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6206.jpg
that looks cool!

about 4 passes later with the Mig, and Bam! a Rubicon Express Fixed Length Super Flex Lower Control Arm is born!
http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6209.jpg
after being a tard at prarie city, I noticed that my t-case skid plate had lost a few bolts... so i wanted to fix that... and noticed a little cracking in the x-member... took the skid off and found this -
http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6224.jpg
in keeping with the frusteration of the evening, I pulled the x-member, and welded it up, then added some 1.25" angle to the front side -

http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JVPrep/img_6225.jpg
so...
I just drove my junk to Sacramento, because its raining hella hard, and the MJ's windsheild wipers dont work... part of the reason for replacing the fawked up bushings was to eliminate a rediculs wobble in my suspention uppon hard braking on the freeway...
lets just say, that the wobble isnt gone...
but the axle doesnt move with it any more!
I think the play in the sector shaft in the steering box could be the culpret? or my heims with maybe .005" play might be it? I dont know or care anymore...
Ball joints are good, wheel bearings are good, tires are balanced, trackbar backet and axle mount are tight... It has to be the steering joints or the steering box...
Maybe ill just put Hydro Assist on it and mask the problems!
Measured for bumpstops - need about 5.5" per side to keep the axle truss off the oil pan... also discovered that my trackbar causes MAJOR bind in my suspention... The axle end with the bushing isnt at the correct angle... I should replace that with a heim - but ill do that when I go to hi-steer... after JV...

I was going to work in Napa today from Sac, and on the way, a rediculus death wobble problem occured... I expected it to happen when getting hard on the brakes, and I have been chasing it since I last ran at Stoddard...
It happened at speed...
going 75, with your front end all over the road isnt fun...
it has to be the steering box and heim joints...
GREAT! just what I was thinking I needed...
im going to call Parts Mike and see what he can do for me in the way of a steering system and possibly a steering box before wednsday...
its getting farther and farther out of reach...
boo!

Ok this is going to sound shade tree, but it has always worked very well for me. You can't get a good measurement from the edge of the tires. Support the jeep on jack stands evenly. Get a board like a plank or a 2x4, and drive a nail through the end of it so that the nail is sticking straight up when the board is flat on the ground. Bend the nail over a little so it doesn't want to grab the tire lugs. Spin the wheel by hand and push the board under the tire just untill the nail kisses the center lugs. This will leave a nice sharp pin stripe line on each tire to measure from. I have always set the toe at 1/8" out. When people ask me why I have a board with a nail in it, I say it is my alignment rack:laugh3: Hope this helps with your wobbles.
