Ok called what seems to be the only trusted machine shop near me. told me it would cost $2000 for just the machine work (cleaning, boring, resurfacing, etc) no assembly. Then said he could put the 4.2 crank in stroke it and make it a 4.6 for an extra $500. is this a good deal or no? I could buy a lot of stuff for $2500.

Do you need a motor?

mine has 250000 not responsive at all until over 4500 rpm then runs fine. the best way i know to describe it is on a 2 stroke motor when the rings where out takes forever to get it started and no power unless you are really driving it hard

I've got one with 150K I'll sell you for way way way less than 2500 bucks.

Hell, you could do like I did, buy a wreck and part it out and still make money.

If you want to build a stroker, more power to you but check out the stroker forums. There is a lot more to it than just changing the crank.

ya i looked at them. There is a lot to do but it could be worth the extra hp. I saw your post on ksl about the motor. My grandpa was saying something about a place in logan where you bring in your motor and they give you one that has all ready been rebuilt and if they dont have one they rebuild yours. i wonder if it will be cheaper
