My water pump in my '94 just went south so I'm in the market.

Question 1. Do the high performance pumps actually cool better or do they just cost more? Napa has what appears to be a Flokooler knock-off. Moving coolant faster also means that it doesn't stay in the radiator as long right?

Question 2. I've read about drilling a hole in the thermostat to allow the passage of air so as not to create an air pocket when refilling. Doesn't this undermine the purpose of the thermostat?

TIA

Question 1.
correct faster flow don't mean greater cooling.

Question 2.
The hole is too small 1/!6 or less to pass anything accept a small amount of air, the stock one has the whole as do some after market ones like the better Stant line.
