So I used the customer support link to request the build sheet for my '88. As I went through the list I noticed a few things "wrong" with it. First, I have no airbags anywhere. I have the 4.0L straight 6, not the V, no tinted glass, AW4 Auto, and certainly no 4 whl indep touring suspension. I guess these things are not very accurate for an "older" model.

the one for my 97 wasn't right either and it's bone stock unmodified hasn't been wrecked or anything else, so i guess it's not just the older ones

I just found one under the drivers carpet foam the other day on my 87 MJ while repairing rust! A nice surprise.

Over the years, DC recycled some of the codes. So when a certain code meant something back then, now it may mean something else.

I used the same service that you used on the Jeep website and mine was right on the money for both my XJ and ZJ. Sorry to hear yours weren't right.
