spline count?

is there anyway to know the pline count of a 8.25 with 3.55 gears on a 94 xj country HO without pulling a spider gear? is there any stamp on the axle or end of the shafts?i ask this as i have a bent shaft and am taking to buddy's shop to fix(i am to busy)and i found a axle out of the same jeep and he says there is 27 spline in it and i always thought the HO had the 29 spline?

on a 94 it's going to be 27 spline if it was factory.

95 down was always 27 spline, 97 up was always 29, 96 was mixed.
