my rear brakes lock up almost everytime i apply the brakes. it even did it when i had 400 pounds in the bed. anyone have any ideas?

don't push the pedal so hard!


try adjusting the rear brakes so there is very little drag when the rear end is off the ground...not pushing the pedal

just giving you a hard time...try adjusting also make sure you have the shoes in correctly---the shoe with the small pad goes toward the front of the vehicle.

is the load sensing proportining valve screwed up?
the MJ combo valve will divert full braking pressure through the bypass circuit if there's trouble in the brakes, that might be why.
It's also possible that you've got a leaky wheel cylinder, and the brak fluid will make the shoes grab.
I'd take the drums off, and inspect the brake hardware, then work back up the circuit from there.
