Woohooo!!!!! No really I'm excited. My wife and I have been searching for new jobs and IN was our first choice. She just accepted an offer in La Porte (Northern IN). She'll be starting the first of the year. I'm not sure when I'll be moving down permanently. I've got to sell our house and find a job to. But I'm really stoked about being only a few hours from the Badlands and the Cliffs. Look forward to seeing you guys more often on the trails next year.

Actually, no. That would be Illinois.
It's gotten so bad here that people are considering a move to Indiana a big improvement.

xj4life, since you're an ME, did you find a decent job in NW Indiana or are you commuting somewhere? La Porte is a pretty nice area.... can't be any worse than Detroit.

i really havent started working on finding a job yet. i found a race shop in LaPorte that is looking to hire a fabricator and lots of experinece is not needed :yelclap: . but its apply in person so who knows what its like. if i stick with engineering i'll probably look towards Michigan City or South Bend.

yeah, where I live we have a lot of people coming from both California & Ill. But you have to admit it is cheaper to live here....for now at least. Our county (Hancock) is growing way too fast, we need three new high schools, and in my area it will double the property taxes when they build it. Were one of the fastest growing counties in the state.
There is a lot more to do here, but then I am right next to Indy and there is plenty to do there. Especially once racing season starts in March and all the way through Nov. Now if there were just more places to off road.

Well we accepted an offer on the house. Still waiting on a home inspection and septic inspection so I'm trying not to get to excited but I don't see either of those being a problem. Looks like I should be moving down to LaPorte some time in February.

When did they close (I think it is called like Finish Line / Last Stop pets and toys)? I used to go in there ever "blue moon". It was a sweet store

My wife's family lives in Michigan City. So, I'm there every now and then. It's a pretty cool town.....more so in the summer. In fact, my wife used to work at Redemack's.

I figure the next time I decide to go wheeling in Michigan, then I'll probably drop the wife and kid off in Michigan City and continue on my way. Anyone up for Silver Lake in the spring?

You guys need to stop talking about Redemack's, you're making me hungry.

MC's okay but like New Buffalo a lot more. It reminds me of a lot of the small Lake Michigan tourist towns in northern MI.

I'm defiantely up for a trip to Silver Lake this year though I'd say early summer intead of spring. I've got a buddy that lives near Grand Rapids that's putting together a sand rail. Probably going to head over to the dunes with him some time.

Its pretty fun. Definately a different wheeling experience. The area open to ORV's isnt really big but there are enough things to do in a weekend. Half the fun is just watching the dumb rednecks so stupid things.

When I head up there i'll definately post it up on here.

My old 4x4 club in college - they went to silver lake all the time, but it was too far at the time for me to drive. It may be a good test for the gears, lockers, and boggers to play around. Maybe even take the ram out and play - may be too heavy for all the sand though

you better have some HP to turn boggers in the sand or else those babies are going to be digging a hole to China. Ram should be fine as long as you air down. Its amazing what vehicles do well on the sand as long as you air down.

92XJT
January 31st, 2007, 08:22
That's true bout the boggers - well I will need to use the ram to tow the xj anyways so if its too underpowered with boggers and sand then out will come the ram - I'll bring the big tires for it too (should have the 4.88s in soon on the ram)
