What does that tie into? Is it just screwed to the front of the dash? I can't tell from here. :)

yea just 4 grade 8 bolts into the square aluminum channel in the dash, its not strong but its double sheared so it wont rip off easy. its just a spot to put your hands while mobbin around. built it out of scrap and practiced with the tig. when the jeep gets fully caged, a real oh shit bar will be welded in

I'll chime in and say that if you are strapped in correctly, there is no need for a bar like that. And if I were to use a bar, it would be located like the one that Dirtbound created - probably one on each side of the seat though. I find it to be very uncomfortable to be strapped in and be reaching out to something that is in front of me. My hands are usually busy with things inside the car (like smacking the driver when he does something dumb) so I'm typically not holding on to anything, but when I do relax I'll stuff my hands down between my legs and the seat.

They say the best places are either down between your legs like you mentioned, or grasping your shoulder harnesses to keep your hands tucked if you wreck.

haha same here, id rather not be having to reach out in front, i wanna be able to relax as much as possible....
