ZJ rear disc on Chrysler 8.25

SO I was out and about today at my local scrap yard and I noticed quite a few of ZJ's with Dana 30's that were turned in on the CFC program. I noticed that many had rear disc brakes and I was wondering if anyone has done the conversion with a Chrysler 8.25 rear axle? I was going to use a set up from an Explorer but the rotor offset was too shallow and the brackets would have had to be severely hacked plus I think my wheels would have hit the caliper. Anyone done this?

Also I am not too concerned about the parking brake set up because mine is an automatic. I have never seen a vehicle roll on a hill in 4 lo with the trans in park so I am not too concerned with that aspect of it just want info on will it work.

Yes it will. You will need to grind out the center of the brackets to fit the 8.25. Try searching "zj disc swap" there are quite a few threads.

Yep, done it. Works great.
Like souske said, grind out the center of the mounting bracket a little bit. Drill out the four flange bolt holes until it all lines up. I think I went 1/8" wider on the flange bolts before it lined up but your mileage may vary.
You'll have to pull the centering pin & axle shafts, no biggie.
ZJ mounts need modified. All other parts can be used stock as they were on a ZJ. PM me if you have any questions, glad to help.

Yes I searched the ZJ rear disc brake threads they were helpful but didn't tell me what was just said. With this in mind I think I will give it a go. Thanks guys.

My 2001 XJ has had the ZJ disc for over two years now with no problems.

To simplifiy the parking brake conversion, I cut the XJ's parking brake arms off and welded them onto the ZJ parking brake arms, after the ZJ's end were cut off.
This allow using the stock parking brake cables.
The parking brake adjuster box needs to be move rearward to provide the extra slack, in the cable, that is needed with a lift.
