View Full Version : How to clean the throttle body?

I need to get this done, I am just wondering what is the best way and or do I need any gaskets or other items before I start.

Also what is the best cleaner for the job.

You do not need to replace any gaskets. I use Valvoline Syntec Carb Spray. With a 10mm socket remove the 4 bolts that hold the TB to the manifold. romove the throttle cable and the sensor connectors. Pull the TB out and remove the idle control thing thats on the passenger side of the TB. I have been know to use a whole can of carb spray on a really dirty TB. Make sure you get in to idle bypass nooks and crannies.

If you have the time....take it to a powder-coater or anyone with a glass bead blaster. This will make it spotless. Most places can do it for free or dirt cheap. To see what it looks like after blasting check out the web site:
