The time has come to part with my trusty XJ after 7 faithful years of service. I know everyone says it, but I really love this truck. This has been as still is my DD, and it has been to California and back, to Virginia and back, and all over the NW. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive cross country in it tomorrow. The time for a bigger rig has come though, as hauling a family of four and luggage is not the most comfortable in the XJ, and honestly, I am just not wheeling anymore. Currently, it has 142,xxx on the odo.
That said, here is a list of the stuff most people really want to know:
-RE6025 3.5” lift with full rear spring pack and OME shocks
-JKS adjustable track bar and quick discos
-Chrysler 8.25” with 4.11 gears and an Auburn posi
-Stock D30 front
-NP 231 with SYE and CV driveshaft
-AW4 with new cooler lines and rebuilt reverse switch
-Intake with exposed element K&N
-Fully replaced exhaust starting with a APW header, custom down pipe, high flow cat and Flowmaster
-Black steelies with Les Schwab SXT 31x10.50s. They range from around 4/32-6/32. If someone in the Puget Sound wants to make a deal, I think I have a set of 5 at least 75% BFG ATs I would throw in for an extra $300.
-E-code H4 headlights, and 6” off road lights mounted to front bumper (with busted glass)
Also, within the past year, I replaced the radiator with an aluminum one, the water pump, battery, PS pump w/ a high pressure one, and added an external PS cooler.
Like anything 14 years old, it has a few issues. Here’s what I can think of:
-Rear main leaks (not enough to have to add oil in between changes, so it hasn't been worth it to me to fix)
-Intermittent wipers are truly intermittent. They work fine on low/high speed, but when placed in the intermittent mode, they work when they want to. I strongly suspect the module, but never bothered with it.
-Interior not perfect. It’s not trashed, but there has been a cup of coffee or two spilled on the passenger side from the piece of crap they pass off as a cup holder, and the kids might have ground a gummy bear or two into the rear carpet. A good steam cleaning would work wonders.
-Could use weather stripping. I replaced the driver’s door a few years ago, and the rest could use it. Doesn’t leak, just some wind noise on the freeway.
-Hood paint is faded in spots.
All that said, this is a solid rig. It doesn’t burn any oil, the trans has been serviced regularly and doesn’t slip, no rust, etc…I’m sure I’m forgetting something, so ask any questions you might have. I am currently in Pullman, WA but I head back to the Tacoma area semi-frequently. If you are anywhere in state or in N Idaho, I’m sure we can work something out.
I’d like to get $4250, but if you think I am way off base, make me an offer. Please, don’t waste my time playing 24 questions if you don’t intend to buy, and I am not interested in any trades.
