View Full Version : Any low height, really stout build threads?

So this may have been covered...and covered...and covered some more.
BUT! I am looking for builds that have 3-3.5'' of lift, with things like:

Upgraded U-joints
Aftermarket diff covers
Extended breather lines
Rock rails (or whatever you choose to call them)
Skid plates
Full poly (or something similar) bushings
SYE/YJ yoke/Explorer driveshaft (or anything similar)
Dana 44/Ford 8.8
Hitch (or rear bumper with incorporated hitch)
Electric fan swap
STOCK air box (with possible mods)
Possible cut fenders with flares
HP Dana 30 in front with possible chromo shafts
Upgraded 136amp Alt
Durango steering or YJ steering box
Maybe plated frame rails?

And 31-32'' tires, either AT or MT

Basically, a really stout built XJ, with low height. Kind of a go anywhere do anything build, but something also mild enough for DD use.
I know that GoJEEP's rig is the quintessential version of what I am asking. Are there any other rigs out there that have similar specs?
That still look fairly clean haha

(and on a side note: does anyone else think this is an awesome build? or am I missing something crucial?)

Give me a virtual slap if this has been a repost. I have searched, but the almighty searching gods have yet to grant me their awesome powers.
And to the MODS: Please move this if I posted in the wrong section.

Have you searched mod tech? Look for Low COG in mod tech.

Yeah I searched mod tech and swamped through the muck that is the low COG thread. And a few others as well. I am looking for particular build threads that have this same theme.

***EDIT***

A similar idea to what I am talking about is some of the South American XJ's...some of them came with front Dana 44's stock

To sum it all up: OVERKILL

Hmmm im not sure if anybody has felt it necessary to run a D44 with 32s... But I like where this thread is going. Pretty much what I am trying to build.

mine is pretty much what you described-and i feel like there are a ton of guys out there with the same style of setup. You're asking for 3.5" of lift and 32s which is quite common with some necessities for the trail.

you can ask about anything ive done to it, but it has diff covers, ugraded steering, cut fenders with stock flares, 4.56's, the big u-joints, front/rear bumpers, sliders, etc etc

Most recent pic of mine. It has a BB, 31's, JCR rails, JCR bumpers being built, JCR t-case skid ready to throw on, V8 ZJ steering, spicer 760 u-joints, front skid and ZJ gas tank skid need to go on. Will be getting ruff stuff diff covers and an Aussie up front, then its either a M4(thats not a .22) or axle swap, not sure which yet! :D I drive it every day and to and from trails. It will be going up to 3" when i get the rest of the lift parts together.

Mine was on 3.5 and 32's with built Dana 30/ metric one ton, then went to 33's for a bit now. I'm 4.5 and 35's with a 44 /metric 1ton combo.

I feel like i'm in this category...kind of... my jeep is always going to be a work in progress, but after 6 years of owning it, i'm finally getting there.

dana 30 w/ 297 joints, welded dana 44, gastank/transfercase skid, OBA, 33's, around 4-5", very practical and utilitarian.

i'd like a winch, rocksliders, gears, upgraded steering, and a front locker

hi, in response.

thank you for pointing out the obvious. if your pointing it out from the standpoint of my own personal safety, i thank you even more. the truth is, is that i've twisted this jeep up pretty well, and i haven't seen or felt any negative reactions to my body modification.
i do, eventually want to reinforce it and possibly fabricate a cage for it. unfortunately, funds are limited as of the moment. in the likelihood of a failure, i do not plan on crying about it, but rather just buying another xj or hopefully an mj.

thank you for your concern.

I would guess everyone has a bit of concern regarding your health, but more-so for anyone in there with you, or someone who has to deal with the injury/loss of you as a loved one.

I run D44's front and rear, with alloy shafts and full case lockers front and rear, and I have 33's. Does that count?

This is exactly what I plan on doing with my next XJ. I have saved a few pictures of some nice, clean and well built Cherokees that might fit your description. Some arent as built or maybe not exactly 3-3.5" on 32's but they are similar. Just pictures I have saved from surfing forums and such.

My favorite, almost bought it too.

You can get a low COG with large tires it just depends on how much you're willing to cut. You want more tire and less lift. Tire = clearance and the ability to hook on higher/concave obstacles.

my last dd, 3" 33's 29 spline 8.25/hp30 both locked, tcase and gas skids, hd tie rod and frt bumper, didnt have alot into it, but from july to feb it neded very little work, only big carnage was 2 d30 shafts, but that also had to do with bein on the rev limiter and smashing a wheel into a rock
drove it back and forth to upstate ny this summer many times(140 mile one way trip)with out a issue and drive it back home on the weekends to wheel

heres the build thread of it
