I find these questions mildly humourous...

This is how the world views american politics:

Liberalism -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Conservatism
.................................................. .................................................. ........^ Democrats
.................................................. .................................................. ...........^ Republicans

They seem different from each other when they are the only two to choose from. But from the outside they are pretty much exactly the same thing...

A nice trip back to underfunded, undersized Democratic military. . . Yay Bill and Hillary.

On the plus side, the White House and the Capitol will just argue for a couple more years until I can make my escape. :)

Man you got that right. I'm a demo, but I hunt, fish, off-road,own 6 vehicles, fight to keep trails open, but I'm labled a Liberal because of being a Demo. Of course I live in one of the reddest states in the union.
I think there needed to be some weights and measures in the House and Senate. The White House was rubber stamped for every thing they did, I think there should be more debate and accountabilty. Don't flame me for having an opinion. These threads usually end up with a bunch of folks telling the opposing people how stupid they are.
Be prepared !

Ban won't happen till 2008 so you got some time. Might be ok but I'm afraid they will try to spend time undoing whatever they didn't like that was done the last few years effectivly wasting any time they have in office to get something done. I'm also worried that they Iraq war is going to handled like Somolia was. but not that it matters I guess.

I look for the democrats to take back the tax cuts we got, raise minimum wage, defund the war, use their subpoena power to investigate everything the administration has done while in office (effectively tying the Presidents hands in war time). They will not get convictions but will try to destroy the administration anyway. Thus setting the table for Pres. Clinton's wife or Vice Pres. to sweep into office to save us poor dumb bastards.

What would be nice is if there was an original thought in any of this. These debates are nothing but repeating the same old party retoric and talk show one liners. If the Dems are so bad why did they just kick the Reps. out of office. It was because the Reps did not police their own party. They didn't even follow their own doctrine. They increased the size of government. They were a Democrats wet dream when it comes to unrestrained spending. They made Clinton look down right honest by side stepping any responsibility for anything for 6 years. I actually like Republicans if they actually walked their talk. The only thing a Dem is good for is to reign in a Republican. I don't like Dems but the only one to blame for them being in control is all of your beloved, corrupt, greedy, Republicans. For one moment in time they got what they had worked so hard for, complete control. What did we get out of it. I got a $400 tax refund, the deficit and national debt are out of control, Haliburton is rich beyond belief, a slam dunk war has turned into a police action, and the Presidency is a rubber stamp. Did you know that the highway bill Bush signed into law had 6,145 riders attached to it. Regan vetoed a bill in his time cause he was disgusted that it had 150 riders in it. The Dems might be everything that is said. They are going to take everyones guns, diversity training will be mandatory, and we will be a wellfare state, and the Republicans have no one to blame but themselves. I am unaffiliated by the way cause I have yet to find a party that has a chance of being in power and actually does what they say. I vote for who ever I will think will do the best job at the time. Next election I will vote to reign in the Dems.

Well said. I was trying to figure out what tax break I had got. Me and wife combined get zip back. $ 80,000 a year and nothing. Now I know that them rich folks probably saved enough on taxes alone to pay our salaries for a year. Yeah big tax break. As far as spending money on Congressional investigations, how much did they spend on investigating a Blow job ?
There has to be a 2 party system. I really hope the House and Senate stays right where it is right now and then McCain gets the Presidency. I think things could get accomplished then. Give the middle class and lower middle class some hope again and I think you would be surprised. The spike in crime would go way down. Just worrying about ourselves is what has got us where we are today. The great divide !

Looks like I'm probably pretty close to Boise49ers politically - scary! Before you guys break out the flames you have to remember that an Idaho democrat would be a moderate republican anywhere else in the country.

For me it means the moron Idaho just elected to congress will get to sit in the corner and drool on himself. Even his own party members were calling him an idiot nine months ago.

There has to be a 2 party system.

Bulls***.

The two-party system is a fictional construction created and supported by the Republicans and the Democrats to maintain the oligarchy that they've turned this country into. Nothing in the Constitution says that we must have a two-party system.

If people would use those erratic, misfiring hunks of machinery that some of us (loosely) call their brains and stop voting mindlessly, we'd all be better off.

Me, I'd like to see every currently serving elected offical fired and blackballed from running for the next 15 years (permanent would be nice). Maybe then we can get some people in place that will do something besides work on getting re-elected to stay on the Gov't. gravy train.

I'm assuming you guys already own guns don't you ? Why would you run out and buy more just because the politcal climate has changed ? Buy ammo, you can only shoot one at a time:spin1:
Guns have been doing wonders over there in Iraq where they allow any one to own one. How many people are found daily in Iraq with bullets in their heads ? I hunt and I shoot , but why would you want it to be easy to purchase them ? I don't get it I guess. :scared:

So that when someone tries to regieme change our asses, we can go all insurgent on them instead of rolling over like the french.

I own a few guns, but I realize that they will take away the option of buying guns they don't think I should have again before they try to take them all away. I will therefore invest in a multi-purpose rifle and several high capacity magazines that I think will be going away in the next liberal gun ban.

Well I just figured everyone had already did that. I did before the last ban.

People need to get real though, like we are going to have a Revolution. The 60 was the last one and they just stayed high to protest. If the Government took over you would be screwed any way. Remember Fallujah ? By the way if you think it was all BS. Sorry , but the pilots who flew the Choppers came from Boise area and it isn't BS. White Phospherous will eat you alive and you won't even get to fire your weapon. I guess if it makes you feel better believe you will have an opportunity to fight back. I know O'Riley is a bit over the top on occasion, but some of his points are valid. Conservative Republicans, moderate and even liberal, Liberal Democrates, moderate and even conservative. The division isn't really in the political parties, it's in the population in general, traditionalists and progressives. Or if it ain't broke don't fix it crowd and the new is always better crowd. Various flavors and degrees (passive to radical) in each crowd.
A long as the population is factioned it is easier to control. A politicians nightmare, is when the vast majority of the population believes passionatly about one position, policy or agenda.

Well said. Most agree that the population is generaly moderate. However, all that is drowned out by the all the extemists. All the news is sensationalistic drama. Everyone is so busy debating the trees that we forget all about the forest. It's hard to actually learn anything usefull.

The easiest and most popular thing these days is debating the speaker instead of the issue. Talk show hosts are good at that. I don't have to listen to you cause you are a religious kook, or a dumb redneck republican, or bed wetting pansie liberal.

If we are going "to stay the corse", then fine. What needs to happen or change to meet our goals cause we are not moving forward right now. If we are going to "cut and run", cool. But what are we going to do about the larger terrorist problem facing us cause it isn't going anywhere. Marriage is between a man and a woman, I agree with that. But what should be done to fix the inequalities?

But what do I know? I'm just another opiniated wind bag. Ooh, maybe I could get a talk show and get rich! My first show will be about the fags agenda to outlaw guns! The New Great American Dream, get rich by doing absolutly nothing usefull. I need to get an agent. Bling Bling yo
