Will a starter from a newer High Output 4.0 work on a RE 4.0?

Per the shop I use - Yes.
The block casting didn't change much externally, so I see no reason why not myself.

The nappa here uses the same part for both so I assume theres no difference.

The 99-01 starters are superior to the older ones, and considerably more expensive.

A buddy of mine just wrecked a late model ZJ so I grabbed the starter, just have to put it in...

So the 99+ starters will bolt in place of my 93? Is the price difference worth it? I'm debating getting mine rebuilt or jsut buyng new.

I've seen them need shims sometimes, I am not sure why.
But they all should bolt right up...

what is the difference (brand, amps, whatever) between the 99+ and others? Worth spending the extra?

I dunno why but the newer ones have this distinctive whine to them.
