I've got a 98 xj 4.0L sport. Intermediately the cluster will go out, then I can smack the dash and it will come back to life. And a new one from the dealer is $900 bucks. I dont think so. So any tips on repairs, or where to inexpensive ones?

Check and grease (dielectric) the connection on the back of the Cluster.

Or, you could pull the IP, clean the connector, use a bit of dielectric grease, manipulate the harness so you have a little less stress on the connector, and put everything back together.

Or you could see if the TSB for the new connector was done, and if not see if the new connector is still available from the dealer.

Just a couple suggestions.

Thank you all for your help I'll give the grease a try, then that TSB conector (do you have the TSB number?) Then jimmy daux I'll hit you up with that cluster. Thanks again!
