what are my chances of finding 29 spline 8.25

i need to replace this d35 so i can get rollin again.

For an XJ? very high. I very rarely see d35s in the junkyard in non-ABS XJs around here. Look for a 97+ and you'll definitely get a 29 spline if it's an 8.25, a 96 might or might not be one, you have to pull a shaft to check. Easiest gear ratio to find is 3.55 (most auto 4.0s) with 3.07 (most manual 4.0s) second easiest and 3.73/4.10 far rarer.

they should be easy to find in the JY's for fairly cheap. about $100 or so. or you can check craigslist for good deals as well

sweet ive got 3.55 gears now so i figure if i can i will grab one with 4.10gears and pull my front driveline until i get the front axle gone through.
