Once again, JEGS.com has a 75$ rebate on their Dynomax cat-back systems! I figured I would leave the price out of the title, so this thread can be updated when it changes.

I believe they have a 25$ rebate on their Dynomax mufflers as well.

That's a pretty good deal. I wonder if the piping is 2.25" or 2.5" though.

Cat exit is 2.25, so 2.25 from there all the way back.. I think I am going to order one.. dont really want the pipe so I'll probably sell that. 25$ for a semi-decent muffler isn't too bad.

This is a Dynomax promotion, in case you don't like dealing with Jegs all that much.

The whole thing used to cost $110. I guess when you offer a $75 rebate, you jack the price up to $142.99.

It seems like last time Jeggs did this it was around 150. I think the price has gone down a little. I remember it basically getting you half off.

Nope, looks like it was the same price.

The Dynomax WLK-17340 was $135.88 from Summit Racing in July '07. It is $142.95 currently- I believe it's actually down in price a bit from the last year or two. Then there is the WLK-17463, which is still about $100.

The "renix era" cat-back is only 100$.. I forget the difference between that and the newer ones, but for 25$ you cant go wrong..

If you order the renix cat-back on Summit, they try to add an oversized shipping fee. To avoid this I ordered it from Summit on Ebay and was only charged $109.90 shipped. Great deal!

I just ordered this cat-back system from Jeg's a few moments ago, then came here to mention the rebate. Aren't you guys glad I did a search first? :laugh3:

This system is $183 at my local Advance Auto, so Jeg's price of $143 isn't bad at all. Throw in the $75 rebate, and I got off with a heck of a deal. I needed this exhaust badly (mine is hanging by a thread and won't last another week), so the rebate deal came at the perfect time.

Dynomax 17340

Item Cost: $142.99
Processing Fee: $12.99
Shipping: $0.00
Rural Charge: $2.50
Subtotal: $158.48
Rebate: $75.00
Total: $83.48

If you order from Jeg's, be sure to check the box that indicates you want a paper copy of the invoice, as you'll need it for the rebate.

There's stuff rattling inside the muffler of the eliminator I recently picked up, so I might have to order one or have a friend order it for me(it's been 9 months since I got the last rebate).

Just installed my new system today. Very straight forward. Nice quality pipe. Easy bolt on. The tail pipe will likely need to be modified. It's awfully close to the shackle....I got mine from Summit on ebay. It got here in a hurry too! This system is SOOO much quieter than that Flowmaster head ache maker.... Now just waiting on my $75 back!:viking:

This timing is great, the tailpipe fell off the jeep last week and local mufflershops were demanding one of my limbs and the rights to name my first born to replace it.

don't think i'm going to enjoy fighting off that factory muffler though.

Rent or buy a sawzall and some blades.

use a cutoff wheel in an angle grinder, slice along the length of the pipe very carefully on both sides where it slides over the output of the cat. Whack the crap out of the muffler with the biggest hammer you have and eventually it'll pop off.

I HATE THE STOCK MUFFLERS. when i was putting on my dynomax catback last year it took forever to get the stock one off. regular hammer...nope. single hand sledge...nope. both just knocked holes in it. fullsize 8lb sledge...yes finally :confused1

btw id check on that rebate status. i also had received mine within a few weeks

I have a sawzall, angle grinder and an 5 pound mini-sledge. I should be good.

there is always the option of grinding the sides of the pipe, then tie a rope to a tree and then to the muffler.

That works. It also will likely result in you getting a full "head-back" exhaust system including a header and downpipe instead of just cat-back... :spin1:

Can anyone tell me the difference in the RENIX system? I am wanting to get this catback but if i can get away with the renix one for 25$ bucks it will be worth it. I have a 96. Also if you buy from the ebay store you still get the rebate correct? Thank you!

The renix system doesn't have a fancy tail pipe and is 2.5" in diameter. I bought it and it works just fine on my 95. If you buy it from Summit on Ebay, you get an invoice which is all you need for the rebate (along with the form). I bought mine on Ebay and sent the rebate stuff in...just haven't got it back yet.

I realize that, but that doesn't guarantee this same setup is under there rig. Plus I have already done the Youtube search.

Different tailpipes, mufflers, hangers, and connections to the cat. Here's a clip of the 17340- it's not this loud, at least not in the cab. Camera was right next to the tip.

What did you have to do to make sure it fit the stock diameter exhaust? Also is the tailpipe just like the stock system?

hubs97xj
May 1st, 2010, 13:47
Same routing and diameter as the stock system- muffler slip-fits to the cat, uses the same rubber grommet on the hanger over the rear axle, and it had a funny clamp with a rod welded to it to connect to the stock hanger at the rear (which I've since trashed and made my own hanger). Worth noting that the stainless tip kicks over to the passenger side, which means it can interfere with lift shackles/springs.

The cheaper kit is probably the way to go if you don't have a late 00/01, or don't care about the fancy tip. The cheaper kit appears to be 2.5" (the kit I have is 2.25"), and should still be pretty much a bolt on.

So can anyone confirm the renix system will work on a stock 95ish exhaust?

gradon
May 14th, 2010, 07:08
You'll definitely lose the egr, so you'd have to block that off. I don't see a problem with the exhaust port sizes and spacing, but I don't know about the shape or thickness of the HO flange in order for the washers to straddle the Renix intake manifold.

yeah, I ment the dynomax catback renix exhaust kit onto a 95 jeep.

Sent my rebate form in on 3/30 and received the rebate check today (5/19). That's 7 weeks and 1 day.

After I got my Dynomax cat-back system on my '96, I took it in to the Jeep dealer for the catalytic converter recall, and got a new one of those installed for free. :sunshine:

May 19th, 2010, 21:52
oh reeeeeeally? I forgot about that catalytic recall!

I should check if mine needs it tomorrow, just put my new exhaust on, it wasn't a dynomax just some no-name brand autismzone had, they got it ordered and to me within a day for $85 or so (no shipping charge since I picked it up at the store 4 blocks from my apartment.)
