Okay. Its almost time for me to pick my gearing and I need some suggestions...

I picked up a great used pair of 4.56 D30 Gears and also have a carrier. I'm trying to decide to either buy 4.56s for my 8.25 OR throw in a D44 and get 4.88s. The second option will take a little while longer because of time & funding but as of right now it could happen (meaning I know where a D44 is and I can keep saving for those rear gears

I plan on running 33s and never going higher because of all the driving I actually do.

Now 4.56s and 33s supposedly will return me to pretty much stock performance and 4.88s will make me have a lot more power to spin the 33s

Could someone running 4.56s and 33s and someone running 4.88s and 33s start posting in this thread I have some questions to ask you and I'd like to see the difference so I can compare and contrast

thanks
Andrew

456s and 33s are a good combo with the aw4 No sense in spending a lot more money just to go to 4.88s over 4.56s

X2

I run 4.56 w/33s with an AW4 and have no problems. Can still run 65-70 MPH on Hwy. Pull a pop up camper and still have some zip around town.

let me say this, if you plan to go to 35s, go 4.88s. it sucks with 456s, 33s was great though

So with 4.56s, 33s, and a few of my performance upgrades will I be able to have "stock like quickness" also how is gas mileage?

i'd say greater than or equal to stock from gears alone. gas mileage, mine has been the same with 3.55s and 29s, 31s, 456s, 31s, 33s, 35s. All around 13-15.

Kind of just depends on where you live and what you need. Up here in the Rockies, 4.56s still have a little bit of trouble getting up the mountain passes with 33s. About as much as the stock setup did. 4.88s really help the climb, and you take advantage of your overdrive alot more with this setup. Just my 2¢.

sorry to pirate your thread, but does any one have anything to say about 4.10s and 33s. I like the gas mileage i get with 3.55s on the highway, but around town it feels like im driving a school bus

410s will be a waste of time, go at least 4.56s
