CJ axle question

I have access to an older narrow track CJ Dana 44 housing I'm trying to decide if it would be worth while to widen it and build it up to put under my Cherokee. It is just the pumpkin and the axle tubes, no hubs, brakes, carrier, shafts, etc. What would be involved to make it a 5/4.5" lug pattern? Is this idea worthwhile or am I just :wow:?

I did search, naxja and the rest of the interweb, couldn't find much if someone knows of a thread where this has been discussed link it and I'll be happy :D

Its not worth doing!

Not worth it, would cost more to mess with it than just buying an XJ D44.

Not worth it! You would probably be better off finding a complete wider Dana 44 and have it narrowed. By the time you search for and buy all the parts, it's not worth it. Buy a tera 44 center section right now for $229 on sale and build a brand new axle.
