I got busted for no Mud flaps!

Hey guys I just got busted for no mudflaps! I have a 6 inch lift with 33's How have u guys attached mudflaps with out hitting ur tire? Any pictures of this? thanks!

From what I understand you should be fine with 6 inchs and mud flaps. What state do you live in, you might be able to get out of a ticket. I had a cop check me just as a favor and he said i was fine with 6 inchs and 33's. I even have 15x10 wheels that are offset and stick out a little. Anyways, not sure about the mad flaps, never had to worry about it.

Depends on the state... In WA you have to be covered from the centerline of the wheel/axle.

As for quick detach flaps, have you got a receiver hitch? I put some square tubing inside my hitch end holes of the main bar, drilled some holes through everything, and use zipties to hold the bars in when I'm driving around. I made the bars long enough to hold flaps that cover the tires. When I get to the trail head I cut the zipties and pull the flaps out. Done wheeling, stick them back in and ziptie. Get creative. :)

what do you mean by "busted." pulled over and given a ticket, fix-it-ticket, or failed by safety inspection.

i just got failed last week for safety inspection for 1 of 2 bulbs out in center brake light and no mud flaps. here in UT, there has to be mud flaps attatched (read not nessisary to be perminelty mounted) at time of inspection. after the inspection you can take them off at your own risk of citation. the tickets here for no mud flaps are fix it type. you correct the infraction and show up to court with the problem fixed and the ticket disapears. if not fixed, the court leveys a fine.

if you got a ticket, correct the problem. i would sugest a set of el cheapos to get by until you can install a set of quick disco mud flaps. keeps you legal until then.

I'd go post this on www.bmja.org there are quite a few LEO's in the club and I don't remember mud flaps coming up before. Fender flares, now thats a different story, they come up all the time and members carry excerpts from the MV code with them as well as the OEM vin sticker with stock 30" tj's.

What a crappy law you all have out there. THANK GOD thats not an issue out here. Worst part is everytime I've ever had a rock hit my window the car/truck in front of me had flaps on so not that they do a hole lot.
