View Full Version : Parting out a '90 XJ - wicked cheap

Well, after many years of beating the snot out it, the old XJ finally blew the motor. I'v already taken everything I want off of it. I'm letting everything else go either very cheap or free. You gotta act fast though, cause I'm getting the carcass towed at the end of the week.
Just let me know what you need. If you come and get it, I'll let smaller stuff go for free. It's in Norton, MA.

231
standard tranny (AX15 i think, not sure though, anyone know how to identify this for sure?)
D30 front axle (3 piece w/ the vaccum disconnect) - stock gears
D35 rear (no gears)

would that t-case work with my '91 AW4? I don't remember if theres a difference other than spline count but I think ours are both 23 spline. If it's in good condition and works with my AW4 I might be interested.

i'm not sure what's involved with fitting it to an AW4.
do you want me to find out for sure what my transmission is?
the t-case is definately a 231 though. it's old (like 280K), but i always changed the fluid more than regulary and its always worked fine. how's $40 sound?
i even have a new output snout thing for slip yoke if you want it.

I could use the front seats if they are in good shape?

with your rig being a 90, that would point to an AX-15 trany. which would make it a 23 spline. the Peugot of 89 was a 21 spline. cant vouch for how well it will mate to an AW4 but i've never heard any reasons that it wouldnt.

i think the front seats are in "ok" shape. they're obviously used, but no tears or anthing crazy that i can think of. i think the passenger seat has a stain on it though.
you want to take a swing by and check them out? your just in plainville right?

throttle body- $5 ?

yup, i called the VIN into the dealer earlier today. it's definately the AX15. they couldn't tell me if it was a 23 spline though, thanks sid.

my buddy tossed that stuff in freetown the other nite

rear driveshaft is still available, it even has new u-joints in it. how about $10?

i'v got two of those tailhousings, one is unused, the other is still mounted to the t-case. MoperManiac has first choice of the t-case stuff if he wants it though.
I'll let you know about that after he gets back to me.

What's under there for a lift? Mine's stock - and I need everything. How about the interior? Headliner thing? Center console? Passenger side tail light? I'll be in W. Bridgewater Wednesday - and Friday morning.

Thanks,

Eric

passenger side tail light you can take for free.
the headliner's toast - you don't want it.
the center console is in pieces in the back, take what you want - free. it might be kinda marked up though cause i kinda tossed the rear axle in there with it yesterday. could be okay though

as for the lift stuff, i already took pretty much all the lift parts for myself. they're actually still worth something to me (for when the new XJ gets old).
it had OME 1 1/2" rear lift springs with extended shackles in the rear. they're actually really great springs.
the front lift is just aluminum coil spacers i made at work w/ extra coil isolators. those seemed to be pretty seized onto the tower they slide over though, so i just left them. if you can get them off, they're yours, it wasn't worth the effort to me. i think they're pretty cheap anyway.
It also had JKS swaybar discos that weren't too old. again, i'm planninn to keep those as well.
the extended tack bar is already sold.

if your interested in the rear springs, shackles and/or disco's, make on offer, i might change my mind. i wasn't planning to sell these though.

i might sell the tires too. haven't really decided either way. they're 31x10.5 BFG AT's on the 15" aluminum Laredo rims. the tread is still great on these too. definately well over half tread. i'd probably want something like $300 w/ the rims for those.

hey ive read up a little and the input shafts are different on the autos vs manuals so if someone wants the t-case im all set. if no one wants it in a couple days/weeks i might still be interested.

Thanks for getting back to me. I can't believe I wrote passenger tail light - I actually need the driver's side one. I don't know what I was thinking. I also forgot to ask what color the interior is for the center console. If it's blue or black, that'd be great. I guess I'll keep looking for lift stuff - I'm looking for 3" - 4".

What's your availability Wednesday and/or Friday?

Thanks again

Eric

did those 31's rub on full turns?? I'm doing a 3" lift and have been told I should get different rims due to the backspacing otherwise they will rub during turns- I'm a newbie so bear with me.

Thanks Mike - good to meet you. Too bad for the rain and the dark. I'd have probably picked that thing clean.

NHEric - It was good to meet you too. I'll pull that rear wiper motor and set it aside for ya before it's towed. I also found another standoff bracket for the console.

i hope these pics show the tires well enough, kinda tough to find a good angle.

windshield is still good, not too old either, i replaced it after it rolled. definately less than 100K on it. the vehicle will already be gone by next month though. do you want me to try and remove it? i'd need to rent or buy the tools to do it. let me know.

I need the brake master cylinder, booster, and proportioning valve
as a unit to get rid of my Renix ABS system (89 XJ).

I may need the peddle also.

Let me know ASAP. BJLINMA@aol.com
