Anyone plan on going? I've been wanting to go for years now, and I'm thinking I may actually do it this year. Who knows for sure, but I was curious if anyone else was planning on it as well.

Waaaaayyy too close to the Geostash.

I would love to go but I will be putting all my time effort and money into making sure our chapter has a successful event less than a week later.

The pictures of your recent trip are a large part of my motivation to try and go.

Ditch Geostash. These people won't appreciate the work you put into it anyway. :firedevil

Wait one more year and go with us. We arr going back to silverton in 2011. IMO it is a lot more scenic than the area around Buena Vista. If they would move CoFest back there I would consider attending. It's just too far away for what there is to see though.

That's not a bad idea. Are you going to the same places you went before?

Im sure we will see a lot of it but honestly, you can't see all that country in a week. We were there nine days (well seven if you don't count travel days) and I left feeling like I needed another week or two.

I'm sure we will stay in the same general area. The cool thing about Silverton is that it is a lot like Moab. You can leave a single basecamp and within a couple of miles of camp you can go to a different place or trail every day. It is truly an amazing place.

It won't be a big group (which I like)

Probably 5-8 rigs along for the trip. Consider this an invite. :D

The only problem with Silverton/Ouray is that there simply aren't any challenging trails. The trails are unbelievably beautiful, but not technical. I tend to go at least once a year but don't bother with a group. There is enough traffic, you never have to worry about getting stranded with nobody around.

I have a few trails I have mapped out with a mining inspector friend that I want to hit that simply aren't in any of the books. Hopefully they will be more challenging.

I'd still like to get out and attend the ColoradoFest this year if I can. Especially if you're barbecuing again!

I have every intention of being at ColoradoFest again this year and BBQing, especially since I am Chapter President again, but I am having major achilles tendon reattachement surgery very soon. I was supposed to have it done tomorrow but ended up in the ER with complictions from a low grade pneumonia. I coughed it so hard I ruptured a blood vessel in my left lung and had a major muscular/lung spasm. I thought I was passing a clot through my lung. It hurt so damn bad I passed out at the ER.

Everything there is going to be fine but it pushed my surgery back a week or so. The rehab from the surgery is expected to be pretty rough. Depending on how the surgery goes, I will be zero weight on the leg for 3 to 12 weeks, followed by months of PT. As long as I can hobble around somehow, I will be there.

As long as the first one doesn't drain my savings too much, we definitely should do it.
