I do like the way you relocated your alternator up high.

it needs a glass top hood

You relocated the alternator up high to keep it out of the water, and then cut a big hole in the hood so rain could fall directly on (and into) it???

Giant fiberglass hood scoop?

wtf is up with the huge ass hole?

I know thats what I said. You didnt need to cut it that big. You could of just hammered the hood up a bit to make the part in the way fit or you could of neatly nipped off sheet metal so that it closes and only the piece in the way stuck out.:moon:

still, what is the point of a freakin hole that big. you could have clearanced your hood with a hammer or do what everybody does and get a yj bracket. jesus. scared to see how the hoodscoop will turn out

i really hope you find some work and are able to go to ROM so everyone can see it in person

Does that really classify as a motor "billed". You couldn't even swing a coat of paint on it? I like the hood vent. That alternator ought to stay plenty cool hung out in the breeze like that. One of those plastic newspaper mailboxes over that hole would really set that project off.

Thats funny because I was thinking the same thing about the mailbox.....LOL !

Or I found this sweet one , this guy might still have the blueprints around for his.

This is what you should have done , which is real nice . I'm actually gonna find out who makes this one so I can get one for mine

I've seen that hood on Quadratec.

I don't think the quadratec one is that much of a raise. IIRC it's only like 3 inches and that one looks like it is higher.

The problem is how high the scoop is going to need to be at the front of the hood to clear the alternator. I've seen some old Firemaros and Novas with scoops that have a drastic leading angle (like 32*) that leveled back off parallel with the hood line to keep tunnel rams covered. Is that the type of thing that you have in mind Chris? Perhaps if you posted some sort of sketch up of what you're thinking peeps would CTFO and not bag on your idea like they are? Give us a clue of the direction you're heading. Hell someone might actually have a worth while idea to add.

I think with a little more thought into the new alternator bracket he could easily tuck it under the hood with the only cutting being to the inner structure of the hood. I see theres a pretty big open space under the plate he bolted on and I also see washers stacked under his new bracketry. If he could get the alternator to sit down more inside the existing A/C bracket I bet it would easily fit under the hood. I think theres a thread in the Modified section about doing a similar install. Or for that matter, if hes into building brackets why not move it to the drivers side? Theres a ton more room over there especially with the intake tube/filter thats on that jeep.

and to mike, i found that hood on carhoods.com. on the left side of the page it says car parts. scroll down to the jeep section and there it is. 589 bux

To the original poster; what was the reason you moved it up higher? I think that with a few extra hours you could rebuild your mount and replace the hood.

is English your second language? Come on, if you can post digital pictures on the internet, odds are you could have used a spell checker...

He's told us that spell check makes his pc crash.

Geez people...give the guy a break, at least he's trying to do something with what he has available. Not everyone can afford to go out and buy pretty, clean, nice toys.

That being said, I've made fun of him and it too... :D

This is the internet... take a breath and relax. You are not perfect either so give it up. We are who we are. People are giving there opinion deal with it. By stating the above you basically are saying you do not make fun of people at all which we all know is bull $hit.

SPELL CHECK turn it on.....that way it will underline the word that is wrong and right click it and pick the right one, easy as that..Then everyone can stop picking on you bout that. If it messes with your computer stop downloading porn that contains computer viruses/issues. Spell check by its self will not mess up a computer.

and by the way everyone whether they admit it or not is a little dyslexic. So try another card on that one...

By the way you just helped to derail your own thread.......so as you put it

STAY ON TASK !!!!

Thanks for sharing the pics of the work you did on your jeep man. Work on getting that alternator covered up to keep water out of it, and out of your engine bay. Good luck on the rest of your build.
