Fuel tanks

I have two issues, 1. My fuel tank is all bashed to heck from wheeling without a skid so it needs to be replaced and 2. I would like to have an extra source of fuel for those long, out of the way trips.

What do you all suggest for extra fuel and does anyone know where to get a stock (Or bigger tank that will "bolt-in" solving both problems)?

Thanks

Get a new tank and a skid and do this to the tank for extra fuel capacity http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoFuelTank.htm
My version is near the bottom and says;
I used 1/2 inch copper plumbing pipe.
(1) 90 deg. elbow & (1) under 4 inch piece of tubing.

1) Empty and remove your gas tank. Remove fuel pump. Find vent tube.

2) Solder tube to elbow. Cut tube to length per Go_Jeep web site.

3) Slightly flair open end of elbow to fit over vent tube and test fit.

4) Epoxy ( I used J.B. Weld ) extension to vent tube as shown.
Let dry overnight and check bond.

5) Replace fuel pump and gas tank.
Might as well replace your gas lines and filter while you're down there.

6) Fill it up and enjoy.
I managed over 400 miles on a tank on the highway once.

There are/were some XJ aftermarket tanks out there.

Here is one for a 32 gal. tank: http://www.nwmp.com/viewOptions.asp

A fuel cell in the cargo area is an option, not my first choice.

I do not remember who makes it, but there is a company that makes a 30-ish gallon tank that fits in the stock location.
