Battery re-connect

I just installed IPF auxiliary lights on my 2000 XJ Classic. When I re-connect the battery the alarm goes off (horn honks and lights flash) and will not stop. What have I done and/or what do I need to do?

stupid question, but do you have a keyless entry system? If so, hit that after you reconnect. I believe it's a security feature that is more annoying than anything.

Reach up under your end caps & disconnect the horns temporarily...they just use spade connectors.

Thanks for the help.

I hooked the light relay to the positive lug in the fuse box under hood and the grounds to the chassis.

My Jeep does have keyless entry so I'll try that.

Thanks again.

I tried the keyless entry thing, ie. panic button, lock button, un-lock button and nothing worked.

The alarm still goes of every time I re-connect the battery.

On my 1992 its lock and unlock the liftgate with the key. I have heard other models its lock unlock 1 of the front doors.
