np231 teralow 4:1 fix

i have a 1998 cherokee and i bought it with a teralow 4:1 transfercase im getting a bad noise from it. sounds like the chain slapping. so i want to pull it apart and put a new chain and maybe bearings. what chain do you recomend and do you think i should change out any bearings or anything else in there? wheres it the best place to buy this stuff will napa sell it

I suggest you go ahead and replace all bearings and seals, that way you know it will be reliable. If it has a wide chain kit then I would just replace the chain and inspect the gears for wear. If it's not a wide chain kit then you can switch to the wide chain setup ($) or put a stock width chain in.
