Well, I made some progress this weekend but not as much as I would like.
I got the rear axle re-geared, sealed, and installed. Has a great pattern as well and so far the seal job on the shaved rear 60 is not leaking :D
I found a set of temporary wheels so I could mount my tires and it now rolls around. Still looking for a set of 15" beadlocks though in the meantime...
I have done all the necessary bodywork and wetsanded the rig. The necessary trim has been pulled in anticipation of the paint as is the mirrors and other incidentals. I have an Easter dinner tonight so I am going to paint it tomorrow. :bunny:
A little odd luck. The casting of my steering box broke so that delayed some of my progress here today while I fiddled with that. Luckily I have that Durango box showing up soon. Very wierd. :wierd:
All this plus I shortened a HP Dana 44 front to waggy width. I am tired.
Off to the back for more work.....

They're like 1/4" or so, but if you just go to autozone/kragen/napa, you can pick up battery tie down bolts that have the nifty hooked end and all...by the way...are you sure thy didn't just drop down a ways? Might be worth just pulling the battery and taking a gander.

About 10 minutes after my last post, I offered to my wife to do the dishes while she studies. The third glass into it, I am scrubbing a drinking glass and it shatters in my hand as I scrub the rim and subsequently cut the crap out of myself.
20 minutes later I am in the Emergency Room with a banged up head and a gushing hand wound and they think I was in a car accident :laugh2: . My wife and I find ourselves laughing and we explained that the head injury was from the Jeep and the hand injury was from doing dishes. Seven stiches later and 3:00 on the morning, we get to go home.
And to think I am not very accident prone.

@ Garrett aka HeepSpeed -- wow, you lost your nuts already? Sheesh.
@ Avery--went from Garrett's lost nuts to a pic of a random bloody body part from you :scared:. Then found out it's your head, which is dense enough to be safe.
@ Avery again - and you really did bugger up your hand, now, didn't you! Yipes! Glad you're all right!
And last,

I now need to install a new tcase skid (replaced the crossmember yesterday) after I egg out one of the holes so it'll fit, borrow some tires to try & get rid of latest death wobble, and see if it shifts into 4LO again now that the drivetrain isn't stuffed 2" higher than it was supposed to. Oh, and hammer out the dent in my front diff, and maybe replace my bent stock control arms...
Kinda found a really large (3' tall?) rock to park on accidentally out at Superstition this weekend. Hit front tow hook, bent front skid plate up (sides bulge now), bent tie rod, smacked front diff, then managed to roll the rock out of where it was sunk in the sand and forward about 4-6 feet as I perched my rig on it. Managed to end up right on the crossmember, though, and the stock tcase skid sacrificed itself doing its job, leaving my drivetrain up about 2".
Drove it home, though, and then up to Ryan's to replace the crossmember. After that, other than more interesting death wobble than usual, it seems fine. I'll try the tires & control arms, and checking TRE's and such, see what that does.
Even if I still have DW, I'll still drive to SoCalFest. DW doesn't hit except somewhere b/w 50 & 65, so I'd just drive nice'n'slow and piss those behind me off =).
I think I just felt guilty about not having a list of stuff to do to my rig before I went to SoCalFest... so I fixed that guilt!

LOL Carol! Classic. Do a quick driveway align. Works wonders! :)
We (actually Kevin 3151 & my ex, Jim) did re-align it at camp before I left for home. What's worse is that Tom (Tripdog) and James (jeprovo) had aligned it in camp that morning. I was 1/2" toe out before finding that rock, and 1" toe in afterward... if we'd just left it alone in the a.m., I would've only been 1/2" toe in after the rock...almost within spec! Some judicious application of a bottle jack straightened out my tie rod fairly well, and I'm presumably still at 1/4" toe in or so.

Well, my turn. Ran into a small glitch. My long-time cracked head got worse last weekend, so instead of burning a small bit of coolant (does that qualify as a hybrid?) it's boiling pretty good. I didn't want to chance it for the Fest, so I ordered a new head, which I hoped would be in by yesterday, now I won't have it until Monday. New radiator will be here then, too. So... I should still be able to git-r-done as I now have lots of weekend time to prep for the new stuff, i.e. remove the old stuff and clean. Think I'll fix some oil leaks while I'm at it. Hopefully done by Tuesday night, just not much room for error. Time to get started!

Head is on & torqued, rocker arms on, manifold... wait, there's no dowels in the new head. Try to find them Thursday, old ones don't want to come out. New radiator is in, both fan/shroud combos, less hoses, can't find thermostat I bought a couple of months ago... New Brown Dog motor mounts are in (boy, are these easier than my son's ZJ!). New injector o-rings.
