I'm not sure, haven't really reseached it much. I know some had CV joints instead of U joints. I'm not sure about TJs either.

Some else on hear told me about this site this week http://car-part.com/
Look for an 8.8. They are some real cheap with rotors and calipers.

He needs a front not a crappy rear.

I do want an 8.8 with disks, but it's not priority right now. I need a new front within the month.

BTW, does it matter if i get an axle that came from a rig with ABS? I don't have ABS.

just checked car part.com, seems promising. thanks

It doesn't matter, just don't hook it up. Actual it would a good choice, it will have the larger Ujoints in the shafts.

I thought all front axles got the larger u joints around 95 or 96, with or without ABS

That's true but even the older antilock axles had the larger Ujoints.

Thanks for the plub Nick, but all my junk is the old, small u-joint style. I have an '89 disco (pretty much housing only left) an '87 non-disco still taking up space. Not going to do the job for benXJ though unless he shells out for new(er) shafts or alloys....
