just had a general question about an 87' HP D30 axle. is there a solid yes or no answer as to whether this axle uses a crush sleeve or shims for the pinion? i'm swapping a HP30 into my zj, and was going to change the pinion seal as a precaution, but if it uses a crush sleeve i might just skip over it since its not leaking. thanks.

btw, if shimmed, whats the proper torque for the pinion nut?

When I regeared, there was no crush sleve. Just shims.

IIRC the hps all have shims, and the nonhps all the crush sleeves.

I think this was covered here a few days ago.

Shims. The torque is 250+ pounds.

Hopefully this will be readable.
