That was an awesome shot. I couldn't hit the ground with the 203.

They take a little practice. We got some fancy sites for them that tell you what distance your current arc will go.

Always loved the 203, a little heavy on an A3, but mounted on an M4, nice!

They are fun to play with.
That was an awesome shot. I couldn't hit the ground with the 203.Sure you could. Just hold the buttstock about an inch from your shoulder. Keep your feet side by side. Lean back to keep your balance.
Pull the trigger, and you'll be right in the dirt. :D

I might could do that. I got plenty of practice, but was never any good with them. They are fun, but nothing compares to the claymore, I can use one of those.

You want to have some fun with a Claymore; tie a couple double over hand knots in some DETCORD, about 7' apart, then pry the back off the claymore, you'll need 1 claymore for every knot, and daisy chain them together using the fuse wells to loop them together.
Talk about a big bang!

Yeah but I'll never have the opportunity to use a real M4, much less any of the m4 m.w.s. attachments. :(

:D
I did see an XM-177 once though,...

You live in Arizona why don't you ask someone walking down the street with one slinged to let you fire it. :D

We only take our rifles to political rallies.(I don't attend political rallies) For every-day wear, the fashionable prefer a modestly modified 1911. Besides, if I just wanted to play with a short-barreled AR, I'd use my own :D
I was talking about an actual M-4. I carried an M-203 for 4 years(on an -A1), but I've never touched an M-4

Luckily there is this: http://www.spikestactical.com/z/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=77 So a civilian can get pretty close. Mounts up like a M203, or they make the stock for shoulder fire. And of course there are a few other knock-offs as well. Last I looked there were some cool 37mm rounds.

I carried m16a2 with a m203 and m16a4s until October then I finally got an m4. Kind of pointless of its light weight with an m68 and a pax15 on it... I still prefer iron sights.
Never got to shoot the 203 though.

Idunno man. The MK-19 and M2 were always a crowd pleaser. Made me smile at least.

I've seen that on spike's before. Kinda pointless, but so is the fake can they sell.....but that would be cool to get and put on a 11.5" barrel to get the neatoo look without the sbr stamp.

And of course there are a few other knock-offs as well,... I've seen a few of those. One version was a dead ringer for a -203. I've always wondered if you could get a mil-surplus 40mm barrel and just slide it on. Probably not, but for people who regularly make their own engine mounts,... :D
I have a Colt XM16 in my armory right now. :)Is that a colt factory designation for something civilian they sell, or do you really have an ATF registered early M-16? That would be worth about 25K today,....
The -177 wasn't experimental so much as an experiment. The military's first attempt at a "M-16 carbine" during Vietnam. Short(11.5") barrel, re-tuned gas system, and a huge flash hider. They were issued to a few SF/Delta/Seal units, (not sure how many were made) and eventually recalled when it was found that the "flash suppressor" was more of a "sound suppressor" which was apparently illegal under some treaty or some such. They were re-issued with a new flash hider which was an empty tube with slots cut in the end, which was completely ineffective. They gave up on the idea and everybody went back to the M-16s until the M-4 came along.

No it's an Actual XM-16 the experimental M16A1. I'll take a pic tomorrow. Maybe I'll get bored and try to find a difference.

Seems to me the first M16 I was issued was marked XM16E1 and had some kind of marking on the receiver like "SEA Only" back in 69'.

In basic training, when we went to the M-203 range(Right back on topic! Wow!) One of the (not-functional)-16s had a lower receiver marked XM-16E1. We passed that around during breaks wondering how long it had been in service.

Did a little reading. The XM-16E1 was designated by the army in 1963. The M-16A1 went into production in 1967. I'll post a pic when I get home I gotta wipe the serial. It looks like it was the 18th made I could be wrong though :D.
