dana30 lower ball joint question

Im doing both side upper and lower ball joints on my 96 xj 4wd. the lower ball joint that the guy at pepboys gave me has this threaded sleeve thing with a notch in it that looks like im gonna need a special tool?? how do i instal this type of ball joint? ive done them before but they never had that threaded sleeve. any help is much appreciated!!

anybody? im trying to get this done this week because of the warmer temps and i need to see if im gonna have to order the tool

You don't need to use that sleeve, it's for 84-89 models only (goes in the knuckle).

I was looking for photo somewhere. It should just be a seperate sleeve usually blue in color.

yeah it is serperate. i just looked at it more and theres no threads inside the sleeve so it just goes on and stops where the ball joint starts to taper.
