Now before i get grilled for this im only 15 so im still learning, But i was thinking is it possiable to run a low pinion rear axle upside down if you use revese cut gears?

Garrett

low pinion is stronger in the rear application, since the gears are running on the "drive" side of the teeth.

Also, you can only use reverse cut gears (high pinion) in a high pinion housing. The ring and pinion are hypoid gears, and can only mesh in the way they were intended, reverse cut gears in a reverse cut housing, and standard cut gears in a low pinion housing.

No you can't flip an axle, the pinion will then be on the reverse side of the axle, and this will make your vehicle go the reverse direction of the way your transmission originally wants to go. You will have pinion oiling problems as well.

Nope, can't be done. The reverse cut gears won't fit, the oiling won't be right, and it will go the wrong direction.
