Well i decided that im going to swap out my AX15 for an AW4 automatic, So far i know i will need the following items...

  • 4 wheel drive AW4
  • shifter linkage
  • TCM
  • drive shafts
  • wiring harness
So far thats what i know i need, Im pretty postive i need a few more things but have no idea what.

If you know any other items that i will need for this swap please let me know.

Thanks
Garrett

Depending on the year, you may also need a new input gear for the transfer case.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant what year transmission. Sorry.
Check this out:

[Qoute]Asin-Warner AW4: 4-speed in 4.0l 6cyl models 87-01. Electrical (solenoid) controlled shifting. 21-spline output 87-89, 23-spline output 90-01[/Quote]
Also, look here. This is the opposite swap, but contains a lot of good info on the differences:

Don't forget about the pilot bearing. You have to remove it for the torque converter to clear the back of the crank shaft.

Edit: This might help: http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Transmission_and_Transfer_Case/Transfer_Case_ID_Project.htm

here is a list
TPS
transmission
torque converter
pressure plate
tranny mount
wire harness
ECU
Trans ECU
shifter
cables for shifter
mounts on the TB for the cables
possibly harness behind the dash for the switch for power/comfort
brake pedal (whole assymble)
Mount for the tcase linkage
drive lines (they are different sizes stick shift rear is longer than auto and auto front is longer than stick shift)
Tranny kick down cable
Steering column if you dont want to be able to put it in any gear P-R-N-D-3-1/2 with out the key (i didnt bother with mine)

Thats all i think there is.

I hope you have gears, because AW4 + 3.07s = fail.

One more quick question.

If i swapped in my 8.8 at the same time could i run a stock cherokee drive shaft? or would i have to do a SYE kit?

i dont know about the 8.8. i have 44. if the stock drive line u joint matches then you should be fine. if its too short barley then get some shims and shackles. it will rotate the axle for better drive line angle and make it fit better too
