how many are there on an XJ 4.0 ho starter, an argument needs to be resolved

3...2 of them you connect to are the main + and the solenoid wire. It grounds through the casing.

The third one is only a connection to the motor itself. There are two terminals that are actually disconnected by the owner, and on the stock battery cable that connection is a single piece that holds the + and the solenoid.

Mine's sitting in the trash right now; I suppose I can take a pic of it before the trashman arrives...
