SCW

So what is the status of Shop days? Maybe we can incorporate the first one with that stupid Monty Python movie?

I've got a few things I really need to get working on and I've been stalling to do them in a nice shop. I'm sure other people are doing the same.

Yeah, I'd like to know too. I'm back in town and have some things to work on.

We are waiting for guidance for our fearless leaders?????????????? I WANT TO START SOON  WE NEED AT LEAST SIX PAID ADULT STUDENTS TO GET STARTED. ALSO WE NEED TO SET A SCHEDULE FOR ALL TO KNOW THE DATES SO WE CAN PLAN AHEAD. ONE VERY IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER ,THE REGISTERED STUDENTS GET VERY GOOD PRICES ON STUFF WHICH CANNOT BE PUBLISHED. Ryan and I talked about this today, since he is on the road and I'm now *cough* event coordinator this is what we think.
We all would love to see this happen right away. But with the holidays soon approaching it's probally going to be hard for people to get away and commit the time and be able to have some money to work on their Jeeps (IE take advantage of the GREAT discounts). We think more people would be able to utilize this great resource and commit to it, if we started this at the beginning of the new year every other Saturday. How about January 13th we try and get this going? We can get everyone signed up in December?

Tom R.
October 31st, 2006, 13:53
Bleh, it's not even November yet and you're talking about starting it after the new year? I don't think that's a fitting solution.

Jerry, can we have two rounds of "adult ed?" And what's the timeframe we have to get this done...from when to when? Maybe we can do two days within the next month and then two days after the new year.

Even with the deep discount I don't have the coin to buy any big ticket items right now, but I have a need to get some work done, as I'm sure others do.

Clint, I'm with Tom R. on this one but if there are only a couple of people who are ready to get started I can be patient, but I'm ready now. It's either I work in my garage from now to Jan or up there, either way I have stuff that needs to be done.

October 31st, 2006, 15:26
I don't necessarily have anything that needs to get done on my jeep (won't know until it breaks first -- ha-ha). But I'm more than willing to come assist and learn if you tell me when and where.

IT'S GOING TO START IN NOVEMBER AT BOX ELDER HIGH SCHOOL ON THE 11th. OR THE 18th. WE NEED TO START NOW. I WILL BE AT THE SCHOOL FROM 11 a.m. TO 3 p.m. WE WILL THEN DECIDE, BY THE PAID ADULT STUDENTS, WHAT THE REST OF THE SCHEDULE FOR THE REMAINING SATURDAYS WILL BE. PLEASE SIGN UP OR MAKE YOUR WISHES KNOWN IF YOU WANT TO BE APART OF THIS NOW. WE NEED TO PICK WHICH SATURDAY TO START ON. FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO WAITE TILL AFTER THE NEW YEAR THEY CAN BE APART OF THE NEXT SESSION WHICH WILL END WHEN WE FINISH THIS ONE. JERRY

Don't think I'll have a chance to get ready that soon. But that will depend on the schedule. Most likely I'll have to wait for the second session.

I won't either.

Too bad really you guys decided on this. The turnout would be twice the people after the new year.

I know several people have told me that this time of year it is just too hard to get away.

I would love to do shop days, but it is going to have to be in the second group. I have 7 weeks of studying for my series 7 and 66 tests. The Jeep I guess is going to get the hollidays off. I am really interested in joining though.

Ryan, I kinda got the impression they needed to start right away, maybe that's only if we do it this fall? Like I said beofre I can wait till January if needed, I'll just have to get a few things done at home if that's the case. Not the end of the world be any means-

I'm not sure discussion is close now either is it? Maybe a poll/vote is in order?

I have to disagree, maybe for a month or two but attendance always drops off closer to spring.

If enough people are ready to commit now then I say we start now.

I've seen this get dropped one too many times lets not discourage it from starting when it can.

Me, Tom, SCW, Bob(96white), love2offroad (theres always plenty to help with and learn) that makes 5, Didn't Dan say he'd be number 6? well that would cover it. I'll make myself available either week in November whatever you guys want.

I don't need it personally, except for the aforementioned discounts:loveu: oh yeah and a warm dry place to work in the winter.

Well....I know of three who would be there after the year.

Honestly I could care less. I am just trying to look out for as many members as I can. If more people want to do it now...fine.

I know that I or the Give a way jeep will not be there though.

If we start now that is only max two sessions before new years, IE most of the sessions are early next year. Are you suggesting none of those sessions can be used for the give away jeep just because you can't make it before december? I'm not following that line of thinking.

No. I was just saying that I can't make it there before the first of the year. After that I can. However I won't pay 50 bucks to only use one or two sessions.

IF SOMEONE PAYS $50. THIS FIRST SESSION AND ONLY MAKES A COUPLE WORK DAYS THE FIRST SESSION, THEY CAN COME ANY TIME WHEN THE NEXT SESSIONS IS GOING. NO IS GOING TO BE CHEATED OUT OF FOUR WORK DAYS WHEN THEY PAYED FOR THEM. BESIDES THE BIGGEST REASON FOR THE SHOP DAYS IS, TO GET TOGETHER , GET GOOD DISCOUNTS, HELP WORK ON EACHOTHER'S JEEP'S AND HAVE A GREAT TIME. SO LET'S MAKE IT THE 11th. of NOVEMBER IF THATS OKAY WITH THE ONES WHO WANT TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. JERRY

Thats why I want to wait. If the reason is to get everyone together and have a good time why not do it when more people can go?

I just don't understand the reason for starting right now when more people could be involved at the first of the year.

grandpaxj

THE BIGGEST MAIN REASON IS THAT IF IT DOESN'T HAPPEN THIS YEAR THE SCHOOL SAID NO MORE USING THE FACILATIES. THEY WANT TO DROP ADULT ED. MY ARGUMENT WITH THEM IS THAT IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING IN THE PAST. BUT THEY SAY YOU HAVE'NT USED IT THIS YEAR SO USE IT OR LOSS IT. BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO UES THIS FOR A REASON, I WANT THE CLUB MEMBERS TO WANT THIS PROGRAM TO CONTINUE . IT WOULD BE JUST FINE WITH ME BECAUSE THIS ALL MY FREE TIME TO YOU. I DO NOT GET PAID FOR THIS AT ALL.

Of the 5-6 of us who are ready at any time, can anyone NOT make it later? Simple maintenance issues are not any trouble for me, I'd like some *ahem* advanced help around for a few bigger jobs though.

I'd really like to know who can NOT MAKE IT later that can get started now.

I was thinking we were starting late as is, should have started earlier and then both sessions would have fit easy before next summer. either way, It just takes the minimum commitment to get it started then (in the past anyway) Jerry has a certain amount of flexibility with late comers etc... Jerry, why didn't you say this from the begining? Also you made a comment about waiting to hear back from the leadership of this orginization. I have called and left you two messeges...you never called me back. I have also sent you a couple of PM's I never heard anything back from them either.

Like I said before I don't care when we start this and if the majority of people want to do it now I have no problem with that either.

From the very begining I have stood behind the idea of doing this and have responded everytime trying to get peoples interest up.

If you needed this to happen before the first of the year you should have said something to that effect three months ago.

This is turning into something silly that really doesn't need to be that way.

Maybe next time a little better communication on your part would be a good thing.

Oh and one other thing. Can you turn your caps key off? It's hurting my eyes. :D

grandpaxj
November 1st, 2006, 13:51
SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS BUT I CAN'T FIND MY READING GLASS AND I HAVE TO TYPE MYSELF TODAY. THE SCHOOL JUST TOLD ME ABOUT THE CHANGE LAST WEEK AND TO ME IT SOUNDS LIKE I'M ALWAYS BEGGING TO GET THIS GOING. I DIDN'T WANT TO BRING THIS UP AS IF IT WAS ONE MORE BEGGING MODE. I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE MY CELL PHONE THREE TIMES THIS YEAR SO I HAVE'NT ALWAYS GOT CALLS OR MESSAGES AND YOUR LAST PM SAID THAT YOU AND THE BOARD DECIDED THAT SHOP DAYS WASN'T GOING TO HAPPEN TILL AFTER THE FIRST OF THE YEAR AND I TOOK A SLIGHT OFFENCE. I FELT LIKE I WAS BEING TOLD WHAT I CAN AND CAN'T DO?? I ALSO FELT THAT IF IT WASN'T CONVIENT FOR THE BOD IT COULD HAPPEN BECAUSE YOU TOLD ME ONCE THAT YOU WANTED TO BE THERE AT ALL THE EVENTS. BUT THIS IS SILLY LIKE YOU SAID AND IF PEOPLE WANT TO COME AND WORK ON THIER JEEPS THAT SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. AND I APOLOGIZE IF I HAVE OFFENDED YOU OR ANYONE. I HAVE ALWAYS FELT THAT IT'S ABOUT THE MEMBERS NOT THE LEADERS. SO IF YOU LIKE I WILL RETRACT MY OFFER AND QUIT. THIS NOT WHO I AM AND I DON'T LIKE BEING BELITTLED. I DON'T LIKE THIS GAME.

DrMoab
November 1st, 2006, 14:00
I DON'T LIKE THIS GAME.
Then why are you playing it then?

If you have a problem with how things are being run or anything else you should have talked to me.

Shop days are your baby....not the Intermountain chapter. You can do what you want with them and work them how you want. The only thing I have tried to do is help.

If you would have told me you needed to do this before the first of the year I would have stood behind that decision 100% but YOU HAVE NEVER CONTACTED ME!!! Not once. I can't help out if you won't communicate with me.

Deep breath everyone. :)

Let's keep it as scheduled and we can worry about the other two dates later, after the new year. As for working on the give-away Jeep, we can schedule that during one or both of the last two shop days.

Jerry, is there any possibility of have two 4-day shop sessions during this school year?

The Give a way jeep isn't that big a deal. If we can't get it into the Highschool, Cutrubus Jeep said we could use thier shop also.

I agree, let's keep the shop days for this year and then start them up again next year for anyone else who wants to/needs to do some repairs. No need for all of us to be present to every event (although that would be nice).
