Sounds like the chain in my t case ate a gear yesterday leaving the Badlands. I had planned on driving the jeep when the snow hit and now only 2wd works.lol Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

It is an '89. I looked at the specs thread on jeepforum, thats how I found it was a 242, and because of the shift pattern. I have only had the jeep for a month or so, I am new to this so I have no idea if any year 242 will bolt up or what.

If I recall, it will need a 242 from a 1990 or older (87-90) I know that Vincepru just had the chain replaced in his and that was the problem he was having. You might want to look into seeing if the chain is loose and skipping or if it is thrashed inside. If it just needs a chain that is an easy enough fix. I think that Wrenchmonkey (Robert) here in the MWC has a 242 for sale pretty cheap. May want to check up with him on that one.
